West Des Moines, Iowa (CNN)âFor months, Ted Cruz wore a cloak in the Republican race, organizing pastors on the ground here and raising serious cash, but somehow avoiding detection or tangling with other candidates.
That's over.
The Texas firebrand is now squarely in the crosshairs, dealing daily with attacks from Republicans and Democrats in a way that he shied from for much of the race. And he's punching back....

Here it comes...the big push by the liberal media to have cruz take out Trump, so Rubio gets the nomination.
Lying low bought him some time to get his organization, war chest and base built. Very soon it’ll be Show Time.
{”Here it comes...the big push by the liberal media to have cruz take out Trump, so Rubio gets the nomination”}
Cruz has said he will never personally attack another Republican. He will only speak of policy difference. He
expresses deep respect for Donald Trump. He will compete with him but will not be used to attack him or “take him down.”
Cruz speaks well of all the candidates but it is unlikely he has much respect for Rubio. Both he and Rube were Tea Party candidates, but The Rube turned his back on his constituency on many issues. He also did not hang in for some of the fights Cruz, Paul, and Lee lead. He’s kind of a little weasel IMHO.
I’m talking about a media push of Cruz not an attack by him.
Awe crap, the poor bastards have him surrounded.
Perry was the first to blister Trump, then Jindal. How did that work out? Cruz will continue to avoid Trump as much as possible until the last. Trup and Cruz met remember; maybe they agreed to a semi-peace truce until the others are out of the way. Cruz will continue to play it low and let his opponents self destruct. Rubio may be the exception and become his first main target because of the establishment connection. Whoever is left at the end, Cruz will take on in a debate style, attacking policies rather than character. He will keep an air of professionalism about him.
You have just described in a way that I could not have, what I like about Ted Cruz. Very good.
Cruz says a lot of things, but is calling a GOPer a “liar” an attack? Or does he mean only candidates for POTUS? He hardly does anything but attack other people, especially RINOs.
Basically character matters, and Cruz knows this.
Actually, he did not call McConnell a liar. He said McConnell lied. You can you can state the fact that someone lied without calling them a liar. In that case you are simply stating the facts without attacking.
He always goes after the facts without any personal attack whatsoever. He has said nothing personally vindictive about any of the other candidates. He has not even made any personal attacks on McConnell that creep. ( clearly I do not have the scruples of Ted Cruz.)
