It occurred to me last night, as random strangers were tweeting this story at me, that I’ll be expected to commit ritual seppuku if Romney somehow ends up jumping into this clusterfark. Even though I have no influence over anyone, I took the joke too far. I planted the seed. And I watered it with the tears of thousands of bored readers who sat through post after post about it.
All I want is a trial. I admit guilt. I just want to contest the sentence.
The party establishment is paralyzed. Big money is still on the sidelines. No consensus alternative to the outsiders has emerged from the pack of governors and senators running, and there is disagreement about how to prosecute the case against them. Recent focus groups of Trump supporters in Iowa and New Hampshire commissioned by rival campaigns revealed no silver bullet…

Romney will not happen. Romney must not happen for any reason.
No trial. A revolver left on the table with a single bullet. It’s the only honorable way out.

If Romney would try to get in he would be really stupid and would empower the outsiders even more plus risk totally tearing the party apart.

With a plethora of candidates, for Romney to think he is needed is to say that none of these candidates rises to his competence.

Oh Please. Romney is going to be a good little boy and endorse Don when he’s nominated.
That’s all that’s going to happen.
Excluding GWB. the last three GOP presidential candidates were flops, for different reasons. Dole didn’t know he was running for president; McCain campaigned for Obama; Romney allowed Obama to win.
Insanity defined. And still they don’t change. The only conclusion to be drawn is that the GOPe is terrified of winning.
Is Romney looking to be embarrassed on the national stage for yet a third time?
Big Bird and the Binders will come back to haunt him.
If Romney gets in his ego will be shattered. He will fare as well a JEB!
Back in 2012, I & many others “swore” we would not support Romney. But, after his nomination, we were left with supporting Romney, or by not supporting him, indirectly supporting Obama.
Now, the situation is reversed within the Republican party. The big donors are determined not to support an outsider - Trump or Carson. But it is likely that one of these men will win the nomination.
Will the big donors refuse to support Trump or Carson in the general election & thereby indirectly support Hillary? Will they hold on to their money & forego any possible influence on a Republican Presidency? Will they risk the ire of a President they wouldn’t support?
I doubt it. Cronyism will still be alive & well after the inauguration. Those that don’t pay, don’t play. Being locked out of the WH for 4-8 years would be costly for these big donors.
