Ronald Reagan would characterize those "insults and rebuttals" differently:
With all this horse****, I know theres a pony here someplace.
I own a bar and I talk to people all the time. Before Trump I was leaning Cruz or maybe Paul but I knew the NBC issue was going to hurt Cruz I just did not know how badly so I asked my customers about Cruz. A lot (low information voters) hardly knew anything about him so they had no opinion. But to the man the folks that knew Cruz all said he was ineligible. This is Texas so that is not good.
I was still backing him but then Trump got in the race and made my number 1 issue (illegal) immigration his number 1 issue so I switched to Trump.
I'm happy I switched Cruz has made some bad calls Patriot Act, TPA primarily. Trump may not get things right at first but other then the Kim Davis (queer marriage) thing he usually comes around.
Amnesty and Corruption will be key issues
Let’s take “amnesty” ;The only guy in this race who has been against amnesty and offered a method of ending it from the start has been Santorum. When Levin had him on his show this past week. Santorum charged ;”Trump is all over the place on his positions”. When Levin asked Santorum if he was going after just Trump on the question. Santorum responded; “None of the announced candidates are against “amnesty” except myself because I don’t really know where Trump stands because he’s changed his positions on it., Implying he wouldn’t claim he was the only candidate taking that position if Trump hadn’t changed his ..
What Santorum didn’t mention was also Trump’s position on accepting “Syrian refugees” which from the outset was let them in. But changed to; After Walker came out with “No, we got enough problems” which went ignored because Trump had such broad media coverage , Two days later. Trump took the same position, then expanded on it He’s done the same on Russian involvement in Syria. This should be a problem for Trump supporters as it proves to be for them to consider other candidates in this race..
Now let take the EX-IM bank issue; Here us where Cruz really shines. But it could have gotten buried on the weekend the story broke. Because that’s the weekend Trump went after Walker which had the media all over his attack. If it weren’t for the rare Sunday senate session and the Cruz filibuster exposing the corruption and cronyism involved with the Export Import bank there’s a good chance nobody would know about it. Or the raw courage it took for Cruz to do so.
Only a small percentage really turn out to attend these lenghty wintertime caucus meets. Both have worked besieged christian groups. Despite whatever polling results show now both will be there. And of these two one will come in 1st and the other 2nd come March.
If you look at where the Carson vote goes, the Huckabee vote eventually goes, the [Rick] Santorum vote, or the Rand Paul vote eventually goes, Cruz is very well positioned to be the default choice of supporters of a lot of other candidates, said Matt Mackowiak, an Austin-based GOP strategist.
Shhh, they are giving away the strategy.
“To put it in terms he might understand, a majority of Republican voters have more in common with Mitch McConnell than with him.”
Author does not provide evidence.
Therefore, I think he shows his bias, says what he believes to be true rather than what actually is true. McConnell’s approval numbers among republicans cannot be very high.
“Republican presidential candidate and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has said that he sees himself taking Donald Trumps support after Trump eventually leaves the race.”
This is purely wishful thinking. I like Ted Cruz but he was polling poorly before Trump got in the race and he is still polling poorly. Under what assumption does Ted Cruz think the strong frontrunner is going to leave the race? Just suddenly the ground will shake and all Trump supporters will change their minds and go with Cruz? That is not going to happen.
Is Ted Cruz a natural-born citizen eligible to serve as president? [Yes! And I support him! JimRob]

Report: Ted Cruz could ride Tea Party support to White House [birther trolls stay out! JimRob]

You, by definition, are a birther troll.
Ted Cruz is not just “ mudding “ through the early contests as this article has stated.
Ted Cruz is running a strong ground game also in Iowa and South Carrolina.
See my tagline.
It’s called not having confidence in their product that Donald TRUMP will go all the way, why else would they belittle Ted Cruz ?
They know deep inside their consciences that there is always a possibility that Donald Trump will fade and not be the nominee, that is what nags them.
For the most part you don’t see most of the Ted Cruz supporters panicing.
And if they are they were never in the Ted Cruz camp anyway, but fence sitters.
So, you’re looking for another Obama?
Herd Brained Mentality low information Voters who do not take the time to vet their candidate or could careless because he talks a good game and is popular.
They are being used as a tool of fools, pawns, Trump is pulling their chains to get a desired effect.
The carpet will be pulled from under them soon enough where there will be gnashing of teeth and waling.
What they seem to ignore is that many of Trump’s supporters have come on over from the Hillary Clinton camp and will soon willingly go back over to whom ever they agree upon who will be the DNC front runner.
The “ Moderates “ and Democrats have gravitated towards Donald Trump.
Wake the heck up people, you are being played like a fiddle.
Donald Trump is using them as pawns, pulling their chains and it’s working.
I guess many will avoild reading the warning signs or even ignore Red Flags and proceed to go over a washed out bridge to their determent.
The Herd Brained Mentality..... Proceed at all costs...
Because back in their subconscious there is a nagging feeling that they are not totally confident in their product and that there is a remote possibility that their candidate is a ready made primetime ShowHost candidate that might just fizzle out.
He doesn’t have much skin in this game only spending $ 2 million so far.
That doesn’t bother me. I’m not interested in electing a Washington insider who is buddy-buddy with the establishment anyway. If you take that position, then I’d imagine someone like Lindsey Graham would look the most appealing to you.

#18 good, informative post.
Ted Cruz has MOMENTUM on his side, and that is a huge factor in winning a race.
