Nationally syndicated talk show host Steve Deace said Thursday that if the Iowa caucuses were held today, former neurosurgeon Ben Carson or Texas Sen. Ted Cruz would win, even though businessman Donald Trump currently outpolls both candidates.
The reason: Carson and Cruz have superior on-the-ground organizations.
“I don’t believe almost any of these polls,” Deace said on “MSNBC News Nation.” “The record of polling in Iowa is a joke.”
Deace noted that pollsters have warned the Republican National Committee against trusting their results to determine debate placement, and that Gallup will stop polling the 2016 primaries “because they don’t trust their own methodology.”(continued)

Steve Deace is a big deal in Iowa politics.
I’m not questioning you, or the article’s author, except to say Donald Trump is a whole lot stronger than you, or him, seem to believe.
That is my point.
Trump appeals to a heck of a lot of Americans.
Even working democrats. Sort of like Reagan, that way. :D
No one is denying that. However, Iowa is a CAUCUS state, not a PRIMARY state. Are you aware of all the differences?
Trump could win a primary, but Cruz or Carson would win a caucus, right now.

You don’t understand what an organized ground campaign can do if done right and Cruz knows how to do that. Personal contact with voters now and later and just before they vote, plus mailings now and later and just before voting, works, if you have a quality candidate. Trump’s TV appearances won’t substitute for a ground campaign. Cruz already has offices open in every county with paid workers there.
Trump would win Iowa. Deace is biased out the ying yang.
