Mitt Romney long ago ruled out a presidential run in 2016, but he is hardly retired from politics.
As he answered questions from college students for an hour on Wednesday, it became clear that Romney is a keen if not obsessive observer of the campaigns twists and turns and has strong ideas on what the Republican Party and its eventual nominee must do to win back the White House.
The Democrats have done a great job characterizing my party as the party of the rich, Romney said. Nothing could be further from the truth.
He added: Rich people have gotten richer under President Obama. Its the poor and the middle class who are suffering. Its the poor and the middle class who need conservatives.
Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee, spoke Wednesday afternoon at Georgetown Universitys McDonough School of Business in Washington. One of his former campaign aides, Jake Kastan, who is now pursuing an MBA at Georgetown, invited Romney to visit and moderated a question-and-answer session with a few hundred fellow students.
Assessing the presidential contest, Romney said he was surprised at how it was unfolding. Romney seriously considered entering himself in what would have been his third quest for the presidency, but he decided against it in January....

The only guy worse than ¡Yeb! is Mitt.
Well thst was short and to the point” LOL
Just what we need 16 candidates or is it 17. Is Jesse Ventura around.
With the exception of the Donald Trump love, I agree with you.
I saw the thread and the topic earlier this morning on here where Ann Romney said they were “assessing” whether to get in the race and another one in which Mitt said Trump wasn’t going to win because his foreign policy stance wasn’t moderate enough. But of course, Kasich,Jeb, and “maybe Carly” were possible winners.
I believe Mitt Romney is probably a salt of the earth style human being. Although, my buddy when he was in law enforcement still here in Ohio apparently caught Mitt on a bad day back in 2012.
But it’s clear that he has literally NO CONCEPT of how people are actually feeling. People are purposefully going away from what they consider the traditional politicians and gravitating toward Trump, Ben Carson, and yes even Fiorina because they’re all considered outsiders. Even on the other side, they’re going crazy over Bernie, who isn’t really an outsider. But he’s able to convince people that he is.
I’d say it looks like even a fair number of Democrat voters RIGHT NOW are also of the opinion that these traditional politicians, these establishment types, the Hillary’s and the Jeb’s, their ideas are tried and put into place over and over again in Washington and they don’t work. Romney of course is cut from that same cloth. So are Kasich, Jeb, and Fiorina.
He can say Trump won’t be the nominee, and truthfully I kind of hope he isn’t. But right now, people are supporting him.
It’s not about what Mitt thinks a candidate’s policies should be or who he likes. It’s about who most of the American people voting like. And yeah in the past, squishy moderates maybe got passes again and again. But a lot of people now realize that sending those people to Washington does nothing for we the people.
The more midgets the better.
He will embarrass himself and still lose if he does. If he thinks this is a good year for him because of some fawning limp squish GOP then its going to be great watching his failure to launch.
This is like Rocky IX for Mitt.
