Scott Walker just cant make up his mind on birthright citizenship.
Im not taking a position one way or the other, Walker said in an interview with CNBCs John Harwood. Im saying that until you secure the border and enforce the laws, any discussion about anything else is really looking past the very things we have to do.
Harwood then observed that Walker seemed threatened by Donald Trumps hard-line stance on immigration, and was adjusting his rhetoric accordingly. On Sunday, Trump announced a $166 billion immigration plan that includes a nearly 2,000-mile wall across the U.S.-Mexico border, the deportation of an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants and the end of so-called birthright citizenship.
Walker said he wasnt intimidated by Trump though he said the media might be and noted that hes been talking about the bigger issue of immigration for months, though he acknowledged he hadnt spoken about birthright citizenship specifically.
Trumps call to deport what he called anchor babies has split the GOP field, with some Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio criticizing the real estate moguls ideas and rhetoric, while others such as Ted Cruz and Bobby Jindal lined up behind him.
It seemed for a moment that Walker was in the latter group when MSNBCs Kasie Hunt asked him on Monday if he thought the U.S. should end birthright citizenship.
To me its about enforcing the laws in this country, Walker said. And Ive been very clear, I think you enforce the laws, and I think its important to send a message that were going to enforce the laws, no matter how people come here were going to enforce the laws in this country.
But when he was asked if that meant deporting children of undocumented immigrants, he said that what he meant by enforcing laws was to focus on the E-Verify program, an online system that allows companies to verify their staffs eligibility for employment.
Walker tried to clarify his point in a tweet Friday afternoon, Truly secure border & enforce laws. Nothing else matters on immigration issue if you dont do this first. Thats my point. - SW
AshLee Strong, press secretary for the Walker campaign, addressed the issue in a statement provided to POLITICO on Friday afternoon:
Despite the best efforts to mischaracterize Governor Walkers position, he has clearly and consistently stated that we need to enforce the laws on the books, keep people from coming here illegally, and enforce e-verify to stop the jobs magnet before we address the issue of birthright citizenship, she wrote. By addressing the root problems in the right order we will end this collateral issue that only exists because we have a border that is not secure and a broken system.
Not a satisfying answer.
He’s like a loaf of bread made out of sawdust and cricket flour.
Why are they asking him such “distracting” questions?
Been a longtime fan of Scott. Hate to see him melt down like this. He should shut up before he’s damaged beyond repair.
Im saying that until you secure the border and enforce the laws, any discussion about anything else is really looking past the very things we have to do.
Code talk for amnesty.
Walker turns out to be a regular Ron Johnson, Paul Ryan, he does.
And nothing about Rosie O’Donnell...
Isn’t he friends with Eddie Munster and Rancid Prius?
I’m sure Trump can walk and chew gum at the same time...
Scott Walker can’t make up his mind on anything. He knows he wants to be President but he doesn’t know the job requirements and he does not have the skill set. Walker needs to go back to WI.
Walker has no chance. Our country can’t afford such weakness.
Walker has GOT to stop answering these “gotcha” questions and stop accepting the leftist narrative. He needs to return to the 2011 Walker, who kicked union thug ass. He needs a new media or PR team. Start hiring some conservative bloggers, like Michelle Malkin or Laura Ingraham, to be your spokesperson. Stop accepting these leftist memes which only discourages your supporters and split the GOP even more.
He already is.
See ya.
Been nice knowin’ ya.
Scotts a dud outside of WI...i’ll keep saying it and Scott will keep proving me correct.
CRUZ2016!!!
I have never trusted this guy.

Tagline.
I’m thinking if he had some core beliefs, that might help, too.
