Donald Trump is many things -- a demagogue and a pompous blowhard, a braggart and a race baiter -- but in the end, he's nobody's fool, except perhaps his own. Thus, his recent lauding of Sarah Palin and his hiring of her former Chief of Staff reveal that Trump's campaign for the presidency is, ultimately, more of a circus act than it is a serious endeavor for the White House. If Trump were really serious, he'd be keeping the quitter governor at bay.
Trump and Palin have many things in common--and Palin has long been enamored of the Trump family's gawdy wealth and garish celebrity--but what they share in terms of American national politics are elevated "unfavorable" ratings (even within the Republican Party) and, as a result, a hard, impenetrable ceiling to their national political ambitions. Trump is polling extremely poorly among women--both Democrats and Republicans alike--with unfavorable ratings above the 60 percentile a year before the election. Any bookie will tell you that you simply cannot get around numbers like that. Palin knew it, and he knows it, too.
Like the late Huey Long and Joe McCarthy, both Trump and Palin have tapped into the deep anger and fear of a small but volatile slice of the American body politic. It's a real and complicated demographic, largely misunderstood by the American media, who are far too isolated to either grasp or understand this troubling swath of the American electorate. Both Trump and Palin have uttered racialized attacks on Obama and have tapped into deep-seated strains of intolerance in their comments on immigration and other significant issues facing this country. Palin treaded into even uglier cesspools of racism this week when she compared the Confederate flag to the Planned Parenthood logo. This woman knows no shame....

And what award would that be?
Here’s a guy who is REALLY talking his book.
Dunn is doing a little bit of advertising...has “0” to do with Trump and Palin.
Leftists really think that women are not intelligent but because of that must be attached firmly to the government for their own protection. Any women who think they are smart enough to participate in the political scene and who are not of the proper mindset must be shot down and put in their place forthwith. Same goes for Negroes and for non Iberian Spanish speakers.Hindus and Orientals worry the left. It is hard to characterize them as low IQ and needing government protection. Leftists vacillate between trying to stuff them into the Negro/Women box and trying to enemify them for destruction along with the Europoid middle class.
Trump must be seen on the left as a real threat to get elected if they are spending this much time and space on him.
That's all you need to know
Did you hear the Huff and Puff compost is trying to tell the RNC to keep him out of the debates?
Palin is the least of the folks Glassner worked for.
.
Off course, they are deadly afraid of him
The PDS Demagogue Pompous Blowhard Braggat Race Baiter Award.
He was a shoe-in ~
Anger is correct, but fear? That is just proof that the writer has no more of a clue than the man in the moon. Not sure how he fits Long into that group anyway. I believe "Every man a King" was Longs mantra and his overall policies puts him closer to Obama, Clinton, Sanders and Warren.
Barack Obama “is many things — a demagogue and a pompous blowhard, a braggart and a race baiter “
Trump & Palin - I love it when a plan comes together! Lefty heads exploding in 3, 2, 1
Sorry, Huffpo, but Sarah is more accomplished, honest, and intelligent than YOUR Hillabeast...the grifting, repugnant always failing idiotess who would be pushing burgers had she not boinked an even better grifter.
What the hell is a "racialized attack"?
I do have deep seated love of Sarah and am plunging into the ugly cesspools of planned parenthood with her.
If all you do is kill babies, how can you call your group 'planned parenthood'?
Doesn't the baby have to live for one to become a parent?
This writer is an a5shole.
I’m no fan of Trunp, but what a silly editorial. It was just a lot of name calling as if the author had pulled out a list of every thing the left likes to call conservatives and started reciting them in order.
Riiiight.... but Huff Post thinks we should take them seriously as a news source?
Ted Cruz : attorney general
Sarah Palin : head of the EPA (Drill baby Drill!)
Tom Tancredo : head of Homeland Security
Rubio : ambassador to Cuba
Jeb Bush: ambassador to Mexico
