Overlooked in the Cruz path to the White House
The Houston Chronicle's Texas Take ^ | July 17, 2015 | Bobby Cervantes

Posted on 07/18/2015 3:12:48 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Ted Cruz wants Republicans to ask themselves what his political father, Ronald Reagan, asked Americans more than 30 years ago: Are you better off now than you were four years ago?

Everything he has done so far, since he became the first declared presidential candidate, has made this the central question of his campaign. He wants to seize on the dissatisfaction of social conservative hardliners and ride that wave to the nomination. Now, a new plan by a super PAC backing Cruz, shows the level of dedication to testing that presumption, particularity when it comes to the use of "wedge or magnet" issues.

As CNN reported it, Cruz has racked up the five elements to win: a small-dollar donor base, a large super PAC that can raise millions, a not-to-be-ignored social media presence, the party's grass-roots support and "sophisticated data analysis." At least according to these measurements, the parallels to Barack Obama's 2008 campaign don't stop at the story of a freshman senator who turns into a star. Even the super PAC says the Cruz campaign has the potential to run an Obama-level campaign.

In today's world, we have to operate under the assumption that, while, technically, campaigns and super PACs can't collude, they just happen to get on the same message one way or another. That's why the CNN report that revealed the victory path for Cruz, at least according to the Keep the Promise super PAC, already mirrored closely where the Texas senator has positioned himself in the GOP field. Republicans know well how to run on wedge issues, so why run away from them like Mitt Romney did? That's the main thrust of the super PAC's argument, and it goes on to lay out why that will not be the case if Cruz wins the nomination....

In short, Cruz carefully analyzed how Barack Obama used the then-budding field of social media to reach out to voters. Expect Cruz to have a STRONG presence the major social media services: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, maybe even Pinterest and Linkedin.

CRUZ IS STILL THE MAN!!! While I appreciate Donald Trump bringing Immigration to the forefront of the 2016 Debate, and driving Liberals crazy with his “In-your-face; kiss-my-a**” attitude, he really would be a tough sell in the General Election. As of today, “Thunder Thighs” Clinton leads him by almost 20 points in the polls. So, let him stir the pot and let Cruz, the brilliant, electable Conservative, be the recipient of his accomplishments and carry the “Conservative Banner” to victory in the Primary Season.

Funny you should bring that up. I encouraged someone, just yesterday, here on FR, to go on Twitter to help derail Hillary between now and Election Day. And, I also promote Ted Cruz on Twitter. Here's what I posted:
You have to have your own Twitter account in order to Post. You might want to consider doing that. You’d be surprised how many Conservatives there are on Twitter and your political comments has the potential for reaching thousands of people. You post, and if it’s a hot-button issue and someone likes your comment, they “Re-Tweet” your comment and thousands others see it, and they “Re-Tweet”........ It gives you a huge platform. And, everyone who reads your Tweet won’t be a Conservative and might get “ugly” but, hey, the truth will win out in the end. I use it all the time to fire up Conservatives to action and piss-off Liberals...... oops.... I’m sorry; I mean Progressives. (/s). Just go to www.twitter.com if interested.

I read yesterday that Hillary has hired an ex-Google dude to head-up her digital campaign as Social Media Manager.

How, put up postings on the dying Google+ social media service?

Cruz already has a strong presence on Twitter and Facebook. I expect him to be soon have a strong presence on other social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest.

Every Left-wing Democrat-loving paper in Texas has opposed Sen. Cruz. The sensible voters of Texas pay no attention to their opinion.
