With more and more Republican candidates jumping into the 2016 race, radio host Hugh Hewitt has a surprising take on the state of the GOP landscape, telling HuffPost Live on Friday that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is leading the pack due to a favorable election calendar and his social media prowess.
"Right now hes actually ... the frontrunner," Hewitt told host Josh Zepps. "Right now, I think hes actually prepared better to run the board than anybody else. I know conventional wisdom says Jebs got the money and Marco Rubio is lighting up the crowds, and he does. But if you look at the social media engagement, if no other measure, Ted Cruz has got the deepest level of social media engagement.(continued)

If Hugh says he’s the frontrunner you can bet Cruz is toast!

Or maybe, just maybe, the opposite is true. He is winning over the hearts and minds of people across the REASONABLE political spectrum, the same way that Ronald Reagan did.

There were liberals and moderates who predicted the Reagan presidency. Are you not old enough to remember that?

That was more a joke about Hugh’s prognosticating abilities than anything about Cruz.

Naww, that wasn't a joke, that was an attempt to disparage Ted Cruz.

He is in my drive time and Levin is delayed so I listen to him often. He was going to great lengths to not list Cruz when he was naming front runners up until about ten days ago. He had Cruz on and investigated where he actually stood in money and boy did he change his tune.

What difference does it make.
Is this the same Hugh Hewitt who recently said that Hillary Clinton will be our next president. I thinks so.

The fact that we’re discussing his predictions means he’s not just some “nobody” though, right?

Ted Cruz is reversing his position on a major trade bill, calling it a “corrupt” backdoor deal between Republican leaders and the White House.
Good move Ted.
Now we need to continue to educate him....... on the difference between free trade and fair trade.

Guys like Hewitt,(I sometimes pronounce it He-witt-less),Medved, Cunningham, and most of Salem sources have their own agenda. Too often they rely on their connections with what we call MSM and even feature comentators from the Slimes or the Compost on their shows. Even Laura Ingraham does this and I wince when she does. But that’s the nature of that business.
Whenever these types take a position however, pehaps with the exception of Ingraham, it should be, and I do, view it with suspicion.

I’m surprised Hugh isn’t still supporting 2008 and 2012 Romeny. Hugh was and is a GOPe crony.
