Fifty years ago media was as liberal as it is today and just as dismissive and sneering of conservatism. Conservatives had to battle hard to enter the arena of ideas.

Buckley with the media and Goldwater with politics were the biggest names in the conservative movement. Before them liberals loved to identify all conservatives as crazy nuts like John Birch Society or KKK members. Buckley and Goldwater made conservatism respectable and made people sit up and take notice.

I only listen to Hannity on the radio now and then when I’m in the car. In the past few years I have noticed a change in his tone. The “rah rah republicans” stuff seems to be a thing of the past and his opinion of Boehner and McConnell echoes what a lot of us say here. A while back I think he ticked off McCain to the point where he has since (to my knowledge) refused to come back on his show.

Which tells you where Linda’s anger comes from. Sean doesn’t appear willing to play ball with the establishment anymore, so he’s become the enemy. Welcome to the club.

Graham is an effing putz! During the Constitutional Convention of 1787 the decision was made to keep the windows shuttered. General Washington knew that free and open discourse was needed, all views needed to be heard without fear of retribution.
