When I hear someone talk about a REAL Conservative, alarm bells start going off.
Reason being REAL Conservative translates to mean someone I agree with, and anyone I don’t agree with on, (name your topic) is not a REAL Conservative.

First off, we cannot “take out ISIS” because we do not even know who is ISIS or not ISIS or ISIS sympathizers who will turn into more ISIS in the future. We give weapons and training and .. viola .... they turn into ISIS, or factions sympathetic to them. This is happening all over.

Secondly, by attempting to “take out ISIS” we are taking sides. And we don’t even know which side we are taking (see above).

Thirdly, the claim that if we “take out ISIS” it will reduce threats to us at home is dubious at best. There will always be some group or faction or entire country in the MENA whose anti-Americanism can be whipped up to a degree that some cell will make an attempt at terrorism here on our soil. Look at the Boston bombers .... they had nothing to do with ISIS and they still planned and carried out a very destructive bombing.

There are probably hundreds if not thousands of Islamists right in our own country planning similar 1-3 man attacks. Fighting against ISIS will not stop that.

We need to fight SMART. And it is not smart to take sides in a religious and tribal civil war that has been going on for over 1000 years. There is nothing in it for us except more dead Americans and some kind of vague dubious claim that we are doing something that makes sense.

I just don’t agree OK. I don’t think it’s worth sending our military people over to take sides (and that is what we are doing). Especially when we don’t even know who is who over there. It’s a tangled mess of tribal and factions with shifting alliances.

I never said ignore them. You are putting words in my mouth again.

I don’t think they will ever “resolve their civil war” and it is not “local” ... it is all of Islam which is spread over a vast territory. It’s been going on for 1000 years and there is absolutely zero reason to believe it will be “resolved” in the next 1000 years whether we get involved or not.

And don’t tell me what I think.

The entire premise of your argument is wrong. Never, not once, has our mission been to take sides between religious sects. We certainly know that they are at war in their own struggle for dominance, but ISIS is a Political Terror Group that is at war with all the sects, and has declared war on Us.

The difference between you and President Obama is, he knows full well who ISIS is, he just does not intend to stop them. You, on the other hand, don’t know who they are and don’t think there is a need to stop them.

Don’t assign your ignorance to the rest of us by saying, “we don’t know who ISIS is “. They would be the guys wearing black hoods, carrying a Black ISIS Flag, taking over countries and murdering everyone in their path that doesn’t submit to them, especially Christians.

Surely you don’t believe that we don’t know where their camps are and the position of their fighting forces.

I thank God that the vast majority of people in this country are not as clueless as your statements indicate you are.

But we are taking sides and we have in the past taken sides. When you go fight you are taking sides. There is no getting around that.

If the mission is to make us safer at home, that is a dubious (at best) mission and promise because they are going to attack us either way and we are not, nor will we ever be, safe from Islamic terrorists. That is true before ISIS and will be true if ISIS morphs into another group.
