Scott Walker’s changing views a potential drag on candidacy
The Boston Globe ^ | April 7, 2015 | Matt Viser

Posted on 04/07/2015 8:30:52 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Scott Walker was in favor of a legal pathway for illegal immigrants, then he was against it. And then he was for it again. Maybe.

On so-called Common Core national education standards? He once touted them, now wants to repeal them. On federal ethanol mandates cherished by farmers, particularly in Iowa? Once opposed to them, he now embraces them. His record of shifting stances also applies to abortion, and “right to work” legislation that makes it harder for workers to unionize.

As the Wisconsin governor continues to consider running for president, he appears to be following the playbook of Mitt Romney in 2008: adopt positions that are more conservative than your record, in an attempt to appeal to the Republican base. But the strategy is raising questions about his core convictions, and threatens to take him out of the top tier of candidates in the crucial early-voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire.

“These flip flops or kind of maneuvering on issues has put an end to the Scott Walker honeymoon in Iowa,” said Craig Robinson, a former political director of the Iowa Republican Party who now runs the influential website the Iowa Republican. “The thing is, people are looking for consistency and when they look at Walker they’re not getting that today.’’(continued)

Scott may be a great administrator, but as a man with strong convictions ... ?

Even factoring in the usual MSM exaggerations, it does seem like Walker is starting to follow a GOP-e gameplan. Walker’s strength was said to be that he was unflappable and unwavering. He seems to be distancing himself from the thing that got him noticed by conservatives to begin with.

I’ll wait and see where he actually settles, but I’m not all that keen on some of the moves he’s making these days.

At least one of these so-called shifts started with a mis-quote by the Wausau newspaper (try posting a story from the Wausau paper and you’ll see what they think of FR). It is a very liberal outfit and will not retract.

This just isn’t a big issue, no matter if it’s Walker, Cruz, Paul or whomever. We all change our views on things as we gain perspective and I have more respect for those politicians who are willing to adapt than those who steadfastly cling to a weak or incorrect position out of some notion that it makes them look smart or strong or something.

I appreciate Walker's accomplishments in WI, he overcame repeated withering fire from the insane left. He is a known leader. He trounced intrenched unions and didn't get shot. Outstanding!

But Cruz has withstood the wrath of the Senate leadership. He has outed them, and never gotten personal (wacko bird). He has never changed his position AFAIK.

It's just easier for me to trust a man who never changes his stated beliefs.

Most of these supposed “flip flops” are based on “She said that he said” fabrications or misquotes. In this age of “everything is videotaped” there is little actual record of him “flip-flopping.”

As for Common Core, many favored “common core” standards as originally proposed (standards set by the states), It isn’t Walker who moved, it was was Common Core that changed and morphed into a federal monster.

The Boston Globe is a Democrat Party propaganda organ that will dredge up half-baked “facts” to cut down whatever Conservative seems to have the best numbers. They do this not only to beat down conservative opposition, but also to get Republicans to attack each other.

And it works.

If Scott Walker was not a determined man with strong convictions, he could not possibly have accomplished what he has accomplished in Wisconsin. Even if you do prefer Cruz, Scott Walker still deserves some respect.

Actually, even being the liberal rag they are, the Globe is just reporting what many of us have observed.

These lies and smears are from the liberal news media, this time from the Boston globe.

Hey people wake up. the news media is your enemy and is the root cause of all the evil in this country. If the mainstream liberal news media are against Scott Walker then we know who to support.

I've seen countless “stories” from the NY times and other liberal propaganda outlets smearing Walker. the media long knives are out to get Walker. Walker is who the communist vermin fear.

Propaganda is a form of warfare .If you people would realize on how many levels the evil news media is waging war against the American people you would be shocked. They aim to take away our freedom and our property for starters. The first step to fighting back is to identify the enemy. The news media is the enemy of all Americans and all who love freedom. Scott Walker is not your enemy.

This is from the liberal news media (the enemy of individual liberty) . The liberal news media keep attacking Walker unfairly in an attempt to do to him what they did to Palin.

Don’t look at articles from the news media look at Walker’s actions . and he hasn’t done anything for illegals while he has cut taxes, balanced the budget and passed conservative laws as governor of Wisconsin.
