John Feehery: Can Ted Cruz win?
MSN / The Hill ^ | March 23, 2015 | John Feehery, GOPe functionary/spokesweasel

Posted on 03/24/2015 3:59:46 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh when I heard the advertisement.

The voice blaring over the radio belonged to the junior senator from Texas, and he was calling for the Congress to defund ObamaCare. He was also urging listeners to donate to the Senate Conservatives Fund, an organization that’s spent millions of dollars attacking fellow Republicans for being what it deems insufficiently conservative.

Ted Cruz, having burned his bridges in the Senate, now thinks his destiny lies in a race for the White House. Perhaps it does, but his assault on almost every one of his fellow Republicans during his brief tenure in the upper chamber, while not completely unprecedented, is certainly a creative way to get the nomination.

Just as Cruz was making this announcement, his fellow hard-line conservatives were complaining bitterly about having to face radio and TV attack ads funded by American Action Forum, a think tank closely aligned with Speaker John Boehner, condemning these conservatives for their announced strategy of shutting down the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in an effort to force President Obama to repeal his executive orders on immigration.

It is a bit rich for these members to complain about the same tactics being used against them that they quietly cheered on when used against their foes. Turnabout is fair play, I guess, until it’s your gander that is being cooked.

But I guess that is the current state of the Republican Party, and we might as well start getting used to it....

Feehery is president of QGA Public Affairs and blogs at www.thefeeherytheory.com. He served as spokesman to former Speaker of the House Denny Hastert (R-Ill.), as communications director to former Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) when he was majority whip, and as speechwriter to former Minority Leader Bob Michel (R-Ill.).

Can Ted Cruz win?

Of course not. Democrats have said he'd be disaster for the GOP and they'd be foolish to nominate him. So no, he can't.

Indeed. Where were these people in 2007 talking about this unknown Obama with a Muslim middle name?

All we heard was “clean and articulate”, nice crease in his pants, and how he was a genius (although nothing substantive to back this up has EVER materialized).

Yet, we ARE confronted with a provenance proven ‘genius’ who IS articulate and consistently ardent and persuasive in his beliefs. And he has no chance?

Can Ted Cruz win?

Um, NO! Would I support him? Without a doubt. Is he someone this country needs now? Unequivocally yes! But the MSM and even those on Fox are already working to eat him. I watched the five last night and after Kimberly Guifoil introduced the segment in a supporting way, I listened to Eric Bowling (sp?) begin to eat into him. Not enough experience. I thought, SHUT UP! Oh yeah, that poser in the WH now had much more experience. And Cruz has shoes that are smarter than zero. Then Greg Gutfield the yeah I'm a cool liberterian poser talked about how there are real conservatives like Marco Rubio (whom I do like but isn't a Ted Cruz) and Jeb Bush (WHAT???) but he didn't think Cruq was truly a conservative, just a band wagon jumper.

So I don't believe he stands a chance as long as we're going to do the MSMs work for them. I'm going to start watching to see if Fox becomes the Carl Rove reporting agency. If so I'll have to find another place to get my news.

Godspeed Ted, you have my support.

The people who told us that Obama was a genius are the same people who told us Hillary was the smartest person in the world, MSMedia. They were wrong both times but watch them try and do it again. I am tired of this s@&$!!!!!!!

“Experience”:
Jimmeh Carter was a governor.
Fox is deliberately obscuring the difference between “ideology” and “competence” in order to promote Bush.

The same people who said George Bush was an idiot when compared against Gore. Checks of their transcripts and grades show this wasn’t the case.

So says the fox to the hound. If they are whining like a low tire on a hot road it’s a good thing. Let the good times roll! Let’s go Cruzing!

Feehery is a tool of the GOPe. His bread is bettered by the same Oligarchs that have bought and paid for McConnell and Boehner.

Wave a check of sufficient size in front of Feehery and he will say whatever you want him to say. Next day when he finds out the check bounced he will cry from K Street to his former masters begging to take him back.

He deserves a major takedown.

That was W’s (and Romney’s) problem - neither one would stand up for themselves or their beliefs.

It is deafening ... the numerous articles and political commentary ... all taking shots at Ted Cruz and how he can't win. He's in their heads. All Cruz, all the time. As Rush said of his announcement speech ... it was dazzling and “scared the heck out of the left.

Cruz Derangement Syndrome has infected both the gOpE and the Left.

“Experience”: Jimmeh Carter was a governor.

Over the past 100 years (or so) we have had 8 presidents with prior gubernatorial experience:

Theodore Roosevelt
Woodrow Wilson
Calvin Coolidge
Franklin Roosevelt
Jimmy Carter
Ronald Reagan
Bill Clinton
George W. Bush

With the exception of Ronald Reagan and Calvin Coolidge, the remaining six have been unmitigated disasters.

That's hardly an encouraging record.

And Reagan wasn’t a great president because he was a governor. He was a great president because he understood what America was all about, loved liberty, limited government and free markets, and knew how to sell it.

I like a lot of what I know about Walker, but the fact is that he appears to be a supporter of amnesty/immigration reform -- which is a deal killer as for as I am concerned.

Ted Cruz is the ONLY consistent, articulate conservative candidate who seems to understand the proper role of the federal government in all respects.

I believe that when one looks at the whole pack, Cruz is the only one who has the brains, the principles and the experience to save this country, if in fact it can be saved after 100 years of Progressive leftist infestation by both parties.

Only Repubs like Romney, McCain and Dole, could ever get elected.

Pray America is waking

We need to wake them up. No more Bushs. No more Clintons. We need a candidate with integrity.
