Republicans have deep bench for 2016; Democrats have, at best, two …

On Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Daily Beast contributor Kristen Soltis Anderson made an amazing statement. She said Republicans “understand that they need to start cultivating new and fresh talent.”

Fascinating. Because the GOP has been cultivating new and fresh talent for years now and is — finally — poised to look to a whole new generation of Republican leaders, quite possibly starting with the 2017 occupant of the White House.

The past few election cycles have been grim. The Republican Party went with Sen. John McCain because, well, it was his turn (just like in 1996 with Sen. Bob Dole). Pretty much the same thing in 2012 with Mitt Romney. The party has had few new ideas and even fewer new faces since George W. Bush came out of nowhere and won back-to-back elections to open the 21st century.

Not so for the party as a whole, though. After the congressional sweep in 2010, Republicans smashed the Democrats in the 2014 midterms. They took so many seats in the House that the party now has the widest majority since the 1940s. Before the elections, pundits predicted Republicans might well take the Senate — they did, sweeping nine seats away from Democrats, which tied 1942 for the fourth-most GOP pickups.

But there’s more: Republicans control 68 out of 98 partisan state legislative chambers — the highest number in party history....

... and all of this aside, the GOP has Jeb... and Mitt. The MSM will be sure to build them up during the primary season.

Uh, it's not for the PARTY to decide. That's what primaries are for. If the GOPe doesn't like the nominee, that's not supposed to matter.

I wish our bench was a lot less deep.

Repubs do not need a deep bench.
All that will do is divide conservative voters.
Repubs need to run ONE conservative candidate.
Let the RINO voters divide their votes this time, unlike 2012.

Stand with Pence/Cruz.

I want Cruz, but Cruz will win with Pence. Hence we all win.

Didn’t the establishment want Romney in 2008?

Romney had all the money, not McCain or Huckabee.

Mitt won’t run. Jeb is taking the O2 out of the room for the “moderates.” The conservatives should quickly rally around someone to take Jeb on early. If not, he will be anointed by the time we get to So Carolina.

Democrats don’t need a deep bench if the GOPe has it way. A bush nomination will mean they could run anyone and win.

And the GOPe knows it. They knew it with McCain and they knew it with Romney.

The Gelded Old Pansies bench is full of RINOs. They are worthless.

You might be right. Mitt wasn’t as fired up as he needed to be... his peak and decline was marked when he politely let Candy Crowley gang up with Obama against him.

Who’s the last GOP senator to win the White House? The Repubs tried going with a senator in 2008. Didn’t work out well.

Conservative R’s have supporters but no money. Liberal R’s have money but no supporters. Money usually wins.

If the tea party is to become more than a transient phenomenon, we have to start cultivating our own funding sources. A look to local politics in Colorado, where RMGO created a money stream from gun owners, shows how much money can change the dynamic of the party. There is a strong and growing cadre of liberty-based R’s who hold office including a clear majority of the Senate caucus. Contrast that with the national races where the Chamber of Commerce, et al, decided this year to take out the conservatives and succeeded almost 100%.

We need ten more RMGO’s in every state. Otherwise, the uni-party in Washington will continue to rule.

It’s not that Mitt wasn’t fired up. It’s that he should have run as a Democrat. Real Republicans can’t get enthused about socialist elites.

LOL, even though it's too serious to be funny.
