Braley, not Bailey.
Michelle called him Bailey, too.

Now imagine if that had come out of the mouth of Sarah Palin, there would be non stop coverage of it, mocking her, calling her an idiot..but hey, its Michelle Obama, so a Democrat RAT can get away with saying ANYTHING

Actually, Mooshelle, he’s not a Marine. That would be Joni Ernst, the Republican who will win this race. (Doesn’t anyone dare to brief this woman.)

I wonder if his campaign asked her to sneak that in to fool the LIVs?

Joni is a lieutenant colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard. She currently commands the largest battalion in the Iowa Army National Guard.

Wouldn’t put anything past this bunch. If it didn’t work, he could always disclaim it and suggest that the wookie misspoke.

That would not surprise me a bit. Very little happens ‘on it’s own’ with these people.

Good for her. Shout it from the rooftops, how the Obamas lie without thinking, without even blinking.

I’d be surprised if she looked it up herself. Surely one of her staff or Braley’s staff supplied the introduction.

I'm sure Joni is all over this. The people of Iowa have a right to know if Braley corrected her "mistake" or if he just let it ride. I doubt that very many Marines, or Military Vets from all branches, were going to vote for Braley anyhow. This gaffe should be worth some votes for Joni Ernst. Her campaign staff needs to figure out how they can use this against Braley and to Joni's advantage. Any FReepers got any suggestions?

After saying that Braley (Bailey to her) was a Marine, did she lift up a Styrofoam cup and salute him?

My late father retired from the Marines, whereas I was a soldier. I would never claim to be a Marine. And if I never served in uniform, I would be doubly cautious on that. It's simply no big deal to these characters. (Michelle's "all this fuss about a damned flag" aside is probably evidence enough.) Military service is actually a negative for this bunch until a close election, when it serves as camouflage for some candidate who happens to badly need votes from congenital Democrats that have some sort of military ties.
IMHO, Bruce Braley showed his own disdain for the military in his early political ads that showed a bunch of (supposed) veterans nodding their approval at Braley's undermining of support for a mission while service members were deployed. (I believe he invoked his father's service in the ads to imply credibility.)
My son was on one of his deployments at that time, so it hit a raw nerve.
