Since you seem to know so much about the federal government's personnel system, perhaps you would like to tell us about the retirement benefits enjoyed by federal workers for those employed since 1985. Hint: it's not what you think it is

Kingu has been arguing from the side of ignorance since this began and while I'm sure he's Googling it furiously (or not, we'll see), I would bet he's going to tell us we're wrong for even existing or loving our jobs or something.

It is ignorant to dispute proven data.

Not taking a side here, but this is exactly the same argument that the Environazis use when someone disputes the causes and effects of Global Wawrming/AGW/Climate Change.

Age Group	Count	Average Payout	Sum
Under 50	2479260	$842.22 $2,088,081,530.78
Over 49 6461718	$1,206.07	$7,793,264,035.39

Under 60	6126676	$920.56 $5,639,954,478.53
Over 59 2815908	$1,277.58	$3,597,539,697.19

Under 58	5227917	$904.34 $4,727,810,332.48
Over 57 3714667	$1,266.71	$4,705,422,345.20
Seems like 60 was a pretty close guess. I've broken down some of the age groups, and averaged the benefit, and the payout for that average for the population.

You're welcome to join in as well; what are you afraid of being paid actually what you are already being paid and having control over what you do with that money?

Currently 11 million Americans are collecting disability benefits.

Which is probably about 10,500,000 too high.

The entire SSDI ought to be scrapped, everyone thrown off, and have to re-apply and prove IN PERSON they are physically incapable of working.

I'm far more interested in figuring out why you want to penalize those that work for this country out of jealousy and ignorance than paying heed to your silly theories on how people should be paid.

I HATE ignorant people.....I just hate them more than liberals because they are so stupid.....I work at the Naval Academy which I enjoy and hoped to work their my last 10 years on active duty and my dream came true. One of the few lucky people who make a goal and it worked. I have just went over 40,000 dollars a year after 2 years...Yeah for me. Rolling in the dough as the idiots say. I do get 4 hours of sick and 4 hours of annual leave......wow 12 days of vacation days.....so spoiled of me. Then I don’t get ANY medical or dental insurance from the Naval Academy so counting that is a lie. I do get 10 holidays a year, but most here wished Christmas could go away (SAD!). I pay for my retirement into the FERS program and also Thrift Savings. So in 2032, I will have a pension of 680 dollars a month and that does not include deductions for taxes and whatever other nonsense they take out. So yes I can understand why you all are jealous.....Actually you all ARE FOOLS!!!!!!

Penalize by paying you your full salary and the full value of all your benefits? Letting you choose how you’d spend that money? This is a penalty?

Wow, I must really be onto something if you’re so utterly focused on defending your turf and attacking me rather than addressing the question. I certainly figured the resistance would come from teachers, administrators, EPA hacks, etc rather than DOD. I assumed that local government leeches who are embezzling billions would come down hard on anyone who made such a suggestion, not DOD workers.

But alright, it is utterly born out of my incredible jealousy of government employees (whom always claim they could make more money in the private sector). I shall accept your premise entirely. I am an utter ignorant hick. Now will you address it?

Give me a break. Are you claiming that the SS actuaries are using faulty data to project the course of the DI Trust Fund just three years out? They know how many recipients there are, the annual revenue realized, and the amount of money expended annually to pay benefits. They have not changed their projections from the previous year. How can you possibly compare this with the climate change models?

Why do I get the impression that you are attacking me? Look at my post to kingu again. I was merely attempting to point out that federal retirements are not what they used to me under CSRS.

Since I have not made any sort of argument but only said repeatedly I will see what is going on in 2016 I have to say I am so sick of people reading into a comment and believing totally they know what someone else is ‘saying’.

I have made no comment other than to say I will see what is up in 2016.

I said no such thing.

I did say that the line about not disputing proven data is the exact argument the Environmental crazies use as well.

Carry on.

Not the same argument or the same data. The people who don't believe the SS actuaries are the same type of people that would argue with an insurance actuary. In less than three years, the SS DI Trust Fund will be exhausted, and by law, benefits must be cut. We know Congress will act before then as they have done 11 times previously.

There are no models with hockey sticks or thousands of variables. Just revenue, benefit payments, and the amount of non-market, interest bearing T-bills in the DI Trust Fund. How crazy do you have to be to compare the SS actuaries report to the climate change proponents' "proven science" or hundred year projections?

Did they really work for their benefits our were they forced to pay into a Ponzi scheme that will one day collapse?

You are the one who drew the analogy. It is a dumb comparison. Good grief, how clear do I have to make it for you?

There was no analogy. It was an observation. Learn the difference.

It was an analogy, i.e., a comparison between two things, typically on the basis of their structure and for the purpose of explanation or clarification.

2. A thing that is comparable to something else in significant respects.

Observation-1. The action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information.

2. a remark, statement, or comment based on something one has seen, heard, or noticed.

You can offer an analogy as part of an observation. Learn the difference between an observation and an analogy.
