Cornyn was rated the second most conservative of all incumbent U.S. senators by the nonpartisan National Journal, based on his voting record in the last Congress, which sat during 2011 and 2012. He scored 93.8 percent on the Journals composite conservative scale, which melds ratings on economic, social and foreign policy votes.
Similarly, the anti-tax group Club for Growth has consistently rated Cornyn among the most conservative GOP senators over the years.
The anti-abortion National Right to Life Committee gave Cornyn a rating of 100 percent in the last Congress, and also 100 percent in the current Congress to date.
Also in the current Congress, DeMints Heritage Action for America rates Cornyns voting record as the ninth most conservative among current Republican senators, giving him a rating of 86 percent.

Since I was not familiar with Stockman and only generally familiar with Cornyn, I decided to check it out and found the above info, much more at the link.
I’ll be curious to see if his rating changes after he votes for Tammy Faye’s amnesty bill next year. Just sayin I think he’ll go along with it. I hope not.
Texas Freepers weigh in.
I suspect he and Demint confirmed the appointment of Leon loose lips Panetta as DoD head not so many years ago. I think the entire sitting Senate did or close,, but no politico is perfect,, and the ACU ratings are far from a solid litmus test these days, IMHO.
we’ll see next spring..
That’s liberal Factcheck.org.
They are quoting numbers from reliable conservative organizations, they are not doing their own ratings, numbers are numbers.
I have noticed the Gope likes to turn the debate in this way to argue that the Gope dope is quite conservative. Eg McCain, McConnell, McGeneric Gope etc... Has a quite conservative record.
These records are inevitBky true, but it is a canard and if they twist the argument in this manner they have changed the playing field and maneuvered to their advantage.
Gopes maintain conservative voting records and credentials and I personally don’t care to argue that they don’t hold conservative views or values.
Arguing in this way leads us no where.
The issue becomes effectiveness and leadership.
We need to not argue over who is more conservative but who has the guts to stand up for it in a real situation, ie House or Senate, where it counts and has real life ramifications.
It is a question of inertia and belong along to get along as opposed to moving the ball forward.
I am suspicious when any liberal organization tries to encourage us to keep some Republican in place because they are so conservative...
Scroll through the following and you’ll find a vast array of info as to support or nonsupport.

I don't want any Republican to "work" with Obama or the Democrats. I want them actively opposing them and explaining to the American people why they're doing it.
I don't give a damn what Cornyn's ratings, or any other Republicans "lifetime" ratings are, based on subjective votes.
Cornyn did not stand with Cruz.
If he had, we’d still have seen through it.
The recipe for Stockman to whack Cornyn out of his seat was built when Cruz did same to Dewhurst, and it will be deja-vu all over again.
You can play all the ratings games you like. I shall see him removed.
Any of the candidates against Cornyn can help keep him below 50%, and I encourage all Texans to vote for ANYONE BUT CORNYN.

What reliable conservative organizations? The ACU is no such thing. The National Journal is an Obama-worshiping publication. The Heritage Foundation is more libertarian than anything. They’re quoting the NY Times as legitimate. The Club For Growth is only concerned with fiscal conservatism, not social.
Cornyn, like McCain and Graham and Santorum and Huckabee are pro life liberals. They are very wimpy when confronting the Democrats. Some pro life organizations never look past the one issue.
Lotta wolves hanging around with pro life voting records who are awful in every other aspect, and who never lead on the social issues anyway.
Voting records are only of limited value. In this media age, public statements and fund raising appeals are often more powerful than a few votes.
Thanks to Ted Cruz, the American people, especially those in Texas, understand what a good Conservative is.
A good Conservative is someone who has the courage to act on his Conservative principles to the extent that he inspires his constituents to greet him enthusiastically at airports when he returns home from his battles in Washington.
Has anyone ever greeted John Cornyn enthusiastically on his trips home, except for corporate executives pleased that he pushed their interests forward in the Senate?
The Republican party needs more Ted Cruzes and fewer John Cornyns.
McCornyn did vote to confirm both SecState Hanoi John Kerry and SecDef Chuckwad Hagel.
Not to mention that as Senate Minority Whip, he allowed several Senate RINOs to vote against the DEFUNDING Obamacide as well as in SUPPORT of the Senate AMNESTY Bill.
What more do you need to see that he MUST GO?
Yes.
They will always have good ratings.
The Gope apologists will focus on this.
IMO, it isn’t how liberal or conservative they are but how corrupted by the Washington Beltway are they? Are they willing to fight against the entrenched powers or are they willing to take those elites on and return power to the people? That is my main concern. Returning power includes getting rid of Obamacare, the 16th amendment along with the IRS, the EPA, etc. We need tenacious fighters and defenders of the constitution, not self-serving career politicians.
Personally after the first couple of years I don’t think it makes any difference who was sent there. I have noticed they gradually become more wishy washy in their beliefs till you can’t tell them from the Democommies. Just my two cents, but I am starting to think Cruz might be an exception. I hope so. Merry Christmas and may you get all the stuff you would never have bought yourself.
Voting records are easily manipulated. Many votes are cast solely to give themselves political cover. I agree with you, we need people who, prior to the votes, stand and give everything they’ve got to affect the outcome of the vote. Much like Ted Cruz has been doing.
Take Senator Ron Johnson, elected to the Senate from WI by the Tea Party. What does he do? Doesn't stand with Cruz/Lee, doesn't vocally denounces Obamacare and call for it's immediate repeal. He introduced a stupid bill that let's people keep their health insurance under Obamacare.
Again, that accepting the narrative, the premise that Obamacare is here to stay and we need to "make it work better." To me that's unacceptable and I've have given Johnson's office an earful.
