GOP Rising Star Launches House Bid in New Hampshire
Roll Call ^ | November 25, 2013 | Kyle Trygstad

Posted on 11/26/2013 3:28:24 PM PST by Clintonfatigued

New Hampshire state Rep. Marilinda Garcia announced Monday that she will enter the Republican primary for a targeted House race for the party.

“To solve our country’s problems, we have to change the kind of people we send to Washington and that’s why I’m running for Congress,” Garcia tweeted on Monday.

Garcia joins former state Sen. Gary Lambert in the primary to take on freshman Democratic Rep. Ann McLane Kuster. New Hampshire’s 2nd District, which President Barack Obama carried by 10 points in 2012, has switched party hands in three out of the past four elections.

Republicans have viewed Garcia, a four-term member of the state House, as a rising star in the party. If she passed on this race, it was only a matter of time before she was recruited to run for another higher office.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, Garcia is a conservative, 30-year-old “accomplished harpist” and adjunct professor of music at Phillips Exeter Academy. Garcia told the Union Leader’s John DiStaso, who broke the news of her candidacy, that it’s important that her “generation step up, have a voice and claim responsibility in decision-making about the future of our country.”

Garcia’s campaign website calls her a “new generation conservative” and states that she wants to replace Obamacare with “bottom-up, consumer-driven solutions.”

She would be a great addition to the caucus. I hope she wins.

If the liberal media writes such praise of her, then I am definitely worried.

When pressed for details I hope she does better than her senator, who didn't have a clue about how to answer the question of what she would replace Obamacare with.

Per Wikipedia:

“She is a member of the executive board for Americans by Choice, which advocates for immigration reform.”

No wonder the GOP sees her as a rising star.

“To solve our country’s problems, we have to change the kind of people we send to Washington and that’s why I’m running for Congress,”

Sorry, but that's what they all say, so her statement is completely meaningless.

I'll listen up when she says, "Screw Boehner and McConnell, who are closet Obama-lovers, and they both should be tarred and feathered! And after that, the phony Indonesian in the WH should be impeached"

Anything of substance about her? She’s young, pretty and Latina, but that doesn’t mean she’s got good positions.

She passed the affirmative action test.

“She is a member of the executive board for Americans by Choice, which advocates for immigration reform.”

Unless her idea of “immigration reform” is to start enforcing current laws, that’s a nonstarter with me. Working for market-driven changes to healthcare will be a moot issue if we continue to be swarmed by mass invasion.
