I want my money back.
Last October, I gave $2,500 to support Heidi Heitkamps campaign to become North Dakotas junior senator. A few weeks later, she won a surprise victory.
I have had a long career in government and politics, but I dont donate heavily to political campaigns. When I contribute, its because I know the candidate well or am really impressed with the person. Heidi Heitkamp was one of the latter: She struck me as strong-willed, principled and an independent thinker.
But this week, Heitkamp betrayed those hopes.
She voted to block legislation to make gun background checks more comprehensive. Her vote along with those of 41 Republicans and three other Democrats was a key reason the measure fell short of the 60 votes needed for passage.
Polling has shown that nine in 10 Americans and eight in 10 gun owners support a law to require every buyer to go through a background check on every gun sale. In North Dakota, the support was even higher: 94 percent. Yet in explaining her vote, Heitkamp had the gall to say that she heard overwhelmingly from the people of North Dakota and had to listen to them and vote no. It seems more likely that she heard from the gun lobby and chose to listen to it instead.....

You’re absolutely right, Bill. You should demand Heidi’s immediate resignation.
Sorry libs. With many voting precincts going at 100% or more for Obama that number is now the baseline to impress us on any poll. You set the bar now live with it.
STFU
And our victory gets sweeter yet.
It’s pretty funny and ironic, that they are manipulating polls. Then they go with the polls, and turns out they were wrong.
I love seeing good news like this, the incompetence of these people who are supposed to serve us is mind boggling.

Daley likes an independent thinker, but is PO’d at Heitkamp for not following the groupthink of the democrat party.
Got it.
Bill: What is your problem?
You don’t like the 2nd. Amenement?
Maybe you should move to somewhere that doesn’t have a 2nd. Amenement.
I suspect the Senators who voted against it ran some internal polling that completely contradicted the favorite, cherry-picked data the dems are so fond of.
What were the questions? How did they get to these fantastical impossible results?
Was the question: Do you support children with guns?
There’s a Gallup poll out. Only 4% of Americans Think Gun Control is an Important Problem. Only 4%! After all the Newtown stuff on Air Force One. After all the so-called lobbying. After all of the caring. After all of the attention. After all of the focus. Only 4% of the American people think gun control is an important problem, but the people in Washington do not care. We’ve got Dingy Harry out talking about the anti-gun bill, letting the cat out of the bag. And that has always been the point, folks.
These polls saying that 90% of Americans believe in universal background checks, not true. They ignore the fact that nearly 100% of Americans do not think this is an issue. Only 4% of Americans think gun controls an important problem. Can I talk to you about disconnect? If you turn on the media, if you listen to it, read it, watch it, all you’ll think is going on is gun control and immigration. Alternate hours, alternate days, gun control here, immigration there. The next hour, immigration, then gun control.
She roamed odd the farm, wouldn’t stay bought. Too bad.
The problem with politicians isn't whether they will or won't stay bought.
The problem is that they're worth buying in the first place.
He already lives where there is no 2nd Amendment: in the People’s Gulag State of Chicago.
Memo to Bill Daley: She is, you aren't!
I’ve yet to see a poll that shows Americans favor enhanced background check to include a permanent federal registry of who owns what. Show me that poll because that’s what the senate voted on.
Who the hell trusts ANYBODY named “Heidi”?
Was the question: Do you support children with guns?
And when was the poll taken? I wouldn't be surprised at any results taken immediately after the shooting before anyone could carefully look at it and see that any law other than door-to-door confiscation of guns could have prevented it and there is no way that would be Constitutional. Give everyone a week to calm down and think and the poll would change.
“I suspect the Senators who voted against it ran some internal polling that completely contradicted the favorite, cherry-picked data the dems are so fond of.”
I think that’s very close to the truth. Frau Heitkamp being well aware of the above and knowing the back ground check legislation was toast with or without her vote decided to protect her senate seat. She knows it was a fluke she ever got elected in the first place.
Regarding the “ In North Dakota, the support was even higher: 94 percent.” comment: The ammo shelves and gun racks at Walmart being nearly cleaned out during this latest attack on the 2nd Amendment to me is polling that contradicts that 94 percent remark.
