Latest Romney Revelation Has Me Incredibly Angry
A Time For Choosing ^ | December 28, 2012 | Gary P. Jackson

Posted on 12/29/2012 3:45:16 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Just before the Christmas break the Boston Globe published a lengthy postmortem on Mitt Romney’s massive failure as a presidential candidate. Between this, and the constant hand-wringing by Geniuses of the GOP™, I think we have beaten this dead horse to a pulp, but there was one thing that came out of this article that has me as angry as I have ever been over a politician.

Before we get to that, let’s step back in time to 2008. Like 2012, the Republican Party didn’t exactly put forth an all-star field of candidates for voters to choose from. In the end it came down to Mitt Romney, Corupt-o-crat Mike Huckabee, and John McCain. With McCain in the lead, and on a bit of a winning streak, Romney did the right thing and bowed out. Huckabee hung on a little longer, for no particular reason. McCain became the nominee.

As you know, McCain had been running his campaign on a shoestring, at one point he was flying commercial and carrying his own bags. Obviously, the situation improved. But McCain was short of campaign staff, so here comes Mitt Romney and his people to the rescue. All well and good, so far. McCain still had problems and was down in the polls until he picked his running mate, Governor Sarah Palin. It was after Sarah was chosen that things picked up, considerably. Massive crowds started showing up, volunteers showed up to man local GOP offices, and money came pouring in. McCain’s choice of Governor Palin was brilliant.

Dishonest media hacks have tried to sell the lie that Governor Palin cost McCain the election, something many in the GOP, especially those loyal to Mitt Romney, have parroted non-stop for the past four years...

I understand what you’re saying and my criticism is not directed to the “little guy.” I just want them to convey my feelings to the “management.”

Women have been wearing boots for the last 40+ years. I don't even know how many I've had and discarded, or how many I have now.

That being said, Sarah has excellent fashion sense. More than that, she would have been a far superior candidate to Romney. No matter how they tried to humanize him, people were not convinced.

"I supported Newt and found out she did, also, and certainly wasn't surprised about it. It really was a no brainer to common sense conservatives."

"palin showed her colors when she quit six weeks after the announcement that she had been paid a hefty advance to write her book. Being governor was getting in the way of her media career (which is the only career she has genuinely pursued since 7/09).

It astounded me then that so many here clung to the FR created image of palin while ignoring all her real-world choices and actions. It astounds me still that for many this remains their modus operandi in all things palin."

Dude, if just living your beliefs had attracted the attention of the worst scumbags in the Democrat Party, and then life wrote you a $2 million check on the spot -- $1 million down (Fox) and $1 million on delivery (TLC + the book) -- and all you had to do to cash it was not run for President, you'd be singing a different tune. Believe it.

iow...you agree that she dropped politics for the money. Thanks.

btw...I have absolutely no problem with her chasing the dollar, I am all for it. That she used the willingness of so many to believe that she would run and rescue them as a source of those dollars is a bit shabby.

Hey there wtc, warmest greetings to you and yours this glorious Christmas season.

The deceptive character of your statement is not in the public facts you recite, but the things you leave out, combined with the unproven innuendos you make concerning Sarah’s personal motivation. The deception is particularly effective because you blend the two together so seamlessly that you can trumpet your “factuality” while spinning a complete fabrication concerning who Sarah is as a person. You are to be congratulated. You are an extraordinarily gifted disinformationist. You have learned well from your mentors.

So, Amigo, who is really being had here?

You did it again. You assign your jaded interpretation to her motivation and parade it as fact. That is a fact.

My "jaded" interpretation is based on palin's subsequent actions, none of which involve running for any office, but nearly all of which involve energetic pursuit of a media career.

I was taught that the truth lies in somebody's actions, not their words.

I disagree with the first of your generalizations.

Palin was an Alaskan journalist, and lived a rather sheltered life right up until her VP run.

At that point she because target one on the national liberal smear machine. Number one.

She knew them, but not the national agenda being driven by them.

It is high time for Palin to come out of retirement, and become our new focal point.

Now.

I disagree with all of yours.

Wrong. The target is what she represented - CONSERVATISM. And only the true conservatives here never spoke one word against her nor misrepresented her in any way. They could see her actions as the right move and something they could see themselves doing because the link was being a true conservative.

and lived a rather sheltered life right up until her VP run.

You still have it very wrong.

It is high time for Palin to come out of retirement

She is not in retirement.

, and become our new focal point.

So you can have more of her to smear at and speak more untruths about her and misrepresent her actions?

That is a fact.

It is a fact that money is wtc911's 'hang up'. Like obama's mindset, and libs in general - what yours is mine and if I can't have it, I will use the fact that you have it against you in anyway I can. wtc911 can't tax her, can't take it from her, so he'll smear her.

BTTT, SR - so well analyzed!

Glad I revisited this thread, again. It's nice to see how wtc911 is getting exposed some more as he repeats his old tired smears.

Translation: Why didn't that money go to me/wtc911.

Who sits behind a screen and does nothing but whine about other people's money and where they spent it and smear other's because they have it.

Gee, did I say I wouldn’t vote for Rubio? Before you go off half-cocked you should slow down, take a deep breath, and read what someone has written before you jump to conclusions.

Rubio is not a conservative, but he will get the Republican nomination in 2016. He will not beat the Democrat candidate, who I do believe will be Andrew Cuomo.

I live in Illinois, so, as in 2008 and 2012 it really makes no difference at all who I vote for, because there is no way in hell a Republican is going to carry Illinois. And the only state Rubio would carry in 2016 that Obama carried in 2012 will be Florida, and that is not enough to win the election (EVs, you know).

“Your lie is extraordinary.”

Uh, what lie would that be? That I think Palin is probably the only Republican who can win in 2016?

We’re all looking at 2016 from a 2012 perspective, as we have no ide what the world will be like in 2016. Looking from a 2012 perspective, it is my belief and opinion that Sarah Palin is the only Republican who can win the national election in 2012. If you consider that a lie, then I can only conclude that anyone who disagrees with you on any subject is a liar.
