Herman Cain and Sarah Palin: Do they still have political clout? (Here it comes!)
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | January 29, 2012 | Brad Knickerbocker

When the political history of this era is written, two of the most colorful figures are likely to be Sarah Palin and Herman Cain.

The once-obscure former governor of Alaska, picked as John McCain’s running mate in 2008, went on to create a Palin-centric industry as public speaker, author, reality TV star, Fox News commentator, and potential presidential candidate who made tons of money while tantalizing millions of tea party supporters around the country with suggestions that she might run this year. She was (still is) catnip to the media.

Herman Cain, the businessman who’d never held elective office, similarly dazzled the tea party with his conservative policy positions, his self-confident and humorous manner, and an ability to hold his own in those early crowded debates with career politicians. That he’s African American seemed to dispel the charge that the tea party movement was tinged with racism. For a while, he was winning straw polls, but he had to “suspend” his presidential campaign when a series of women made allegations of sexual misconduct.

As the Republican nominating campaign has been whittled down to a four-man race, becoming a gloves-off rhetorical fight – mainly between alternating front-runners Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich – do Herman Cain and Sarah Palin have any remaining political clout?

At this point, it’s hard to imagine either one of them playing a prominent role at the GOP’s convention in Tampa, Fla., in August. For the most part, Republican presidential politics has moved beyond them. Despite their ability to rouse a tea party gathering, each carries certain baggage the Republican Party would just as soon not remind voters of that close to the November election.

But this past week both Palin and Cain weighed in on behalf of Gingrich....

The new narrative: Welcome to the post-conservative GOP, a broader, more inclusive GOP, a GOP for the 21rst Century, a GOP read to reach across the isle to build coalitions based on consensus--oh, wait, I just threw up a little in my mouth--hey, anyone else feel like drawing a warm bath and opening a vein?

Who knew this goofball former corporate raider failed single term governor with the blow-dried bouffant hair would become the arch-nemesis of all things conservative? Oh, the things you can do with lots of cash, like buy a U.S. national party.

What fun.

Cain is not even in the same league with Palin.

The governor has plenty of clout. Cain, not so much.

That headline should read...”Print media wishes to herald the death of the tea party titians, and hope you’ll buy into it.”

So you were in a coma or on the International Space Station when the corrupt Alaska RINO mchine and the Democrats were filing daily ethics complaints against Governor Palin? Complaints that she had to personally pay her lawyers to defend against. Why am I still explaining this to people who should know better?

How can she “quit” a race she was never in? Or did I miss something? That's like saying I'm a “quitter” because I didn't run for office this year. Ridiculous!

I was a Cain guy, Was back when he ran for Senate in 2004, I am an Atlanta native like Cain, Ive spent many an hour listening to his radio show on WSB, Ive ate at Godfathers pizza,

Thats how I knew that whole bimbo eruption was fake as silicone boobs, Them girls had jack squat on Herman and he folded like a cheap suit, If he had been real, he woulda flicked that whole ordeal off like a sand flea,

Not only is he a quitter, he tried to play us with such weak game it was an insult to our intelligence, He helped Perry and Bachman distract us until Newt came into play, who will distract us until it is too late
