Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint Disagree on Tone of GOP Primary
Conservative HQ ^ | January 12, 2012 | Richard A. Viguerie

Posted on 01/12/2012 9:55:59 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint are two powerful conservative voices in Republican politics, but they seem to be coming at the race for the Republican presidential nomination from totally different angles.

Jim DeMint took to the airwaves on The Laura Ingraham Show to warn former House Speaker Newt Gingrich -- and all of the other presidential candidates -- to tone down their campaign rhetoric in the Palmetto State.

“I would encourage all of the candidates, ‘let’s just be as positive as we can.’ I know they’re frustrated if people run negative ads,” DeMint said. One of the Tea Party’s favorite Senators, DeMint has not endorsed a candidate for President.

In contrast, Governor Palin vigorously cast aside the notion that infighting is harmful to the overriding objective of defeating Barack Obama. Palin, speaking on Fox News’ Sean Hannity Show, said the Republican presidential candidates “need to vet one another.” The former Alaska governor also seemed to take aim at fellow former governor Mitt Romney by saying the candidates should be held accountable for their records and then zeroing in on Romney’s claims to have created 100,000 jobs.

“You hear backup and facts, and information supporting the claims, say, for job creation, that’s been the talk the last couple of days — claims made in these campaigns — and sometimes it gets rough and tumble as you try to hold these candidates accountable for what they’re claiming,” Palin said. Although Sarah Palin’s popular husband Todd has endorsed former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, the former Alaska Governor has yet to make an endorsement.

This is one of the few areas we might be inclined to disagree with Jim DeMint and to agree with Mitt Romney. As Romney said when Newt Gingrich complained about the negative ads run against him in Iowa, "If you can't handle the heat in this little kitchen, the heat that's going to come from Obama's hell's kitchen is going to be a heck of a lot hotter. We have to show that we as a Republican Party and as a candidate, that we can stand up to the barrage that's going to come from the Obama world.” With Gingrich starting to rebound in the polls (now that he has begun to attack Romney), we will soon see if Romney can handle the heat.

“I agree with Richard Viguerie. He recognized in 2005/6 that the Washington Repubs (including W) were destroying the conservative movement. I was upset with Viguerie when I heard him speak, but, he was right.”

I agree also.

If on Twitter and inclined to do so, please Tweet this out:

Rich Mitt gets richer by throw ppl out of work. #GOP was stupid 2 equate Bain /w capitalism. Obama, socialism will win #election. PERCEPTION

I know there is a heated debate about what is and isn't capitalism. Bain is not about capitalism. It is about perception in the general election. Too many people are out of work and how the Bain thing will be portrayed by Obama and goons WILL NOT FLY in the general election.

WE WILL LOSE THE GENERAL ELECTION with Mitt. The Dems have known about Bain and Sarah was right to tell us to VET ALL candidates.

You're right, it wasn't an endorsement.

Jim DeMint offers defense, not endorsement, of Mitt Romney

How did he sell out?

He did the old non-endorsement, endorsement garbage:

Jim DeMint: Romney Will Win South Carolina

With friends like this, who needs enemies? He's either already bought and paid for by Romney, trying to do damage to the non-Romneys when it hurts the most, or he's one of the stupidest politicians on the planet.

So by saying he thinks Romney will take his state and because he doesnt like the way Perry and Newt have been attacking Bain, that makes him a sellout?

But go ahead and write Demint off.

It’s unfortunate that Sarah Palin didn’t get into the race. She has more fight in her than all these candidates combined.

Utter nonsense. If she had real strength she'd be in the race, giving it all her energy 24/7 like the rest of them. Getting paid to spout once in a while on TV is not fighting.

Right on, couldn't have said it better myself!

“Did you see that bain ADVISED obama on the auto bailout? Advised them to close all those dealerships, most of which were targeted Republicans?”

CNBC had to correct that. It is not the same company. This is not a defense of Romney either. I just heard this on Rush earlier.

It’s really Gingrich they want to pit against obama.

Laughably wrong. Anyone with the ability to view objectively reality knows that Mitt is by far the easiest to defeat. None of the national media has every went after Mitt in any manner. They want the easy setup so they can obliterate Mitt (who definitely deserves to be obliterated)

Mitt is a slime bag who has had minions out since 08 destroying ALL conservatives.

It is apparent ALL the GOP elites are hell bent of pushing the lying, flip flopping, weasily, disgusting, unprincipled, girly man, liberal, statist, miserable, anti-conservative, anti-Constitutional, Sarah hating, anti-gun, anti-Liberty puke bag known as Mitt.

Well, my tag line is a response to the RNC, Rove, and other elitists.

There is a "Bain & Company", a "Bain Capital" and a "Bain Consulting Group". Mitt Romney has work for all three.

The "correction" appears to be misleading.

Absolutly correct.

If the candidates wanna cry about being called on the carpet to prove their claims of specific qualifications, they very much so begin to resemble The Won.

And as the saying goes... "Won" is enough.

Back it like you stack it.

DeMint is a good example of how politicians use deceptiveness to maintain a particular public image.
