Herman Cain: Bring On the Alligators
Dakota Voice ^ | 6-8-11 | Bob Ellis

Posted on 06/09/2011 9:14:42 AM PDT by Brookhaven

Once again GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain brings common sense to the issues.

In this video clip, Cain talks about having visited the Great Wall of China (“That sucker is real high!”) and can’t see why we can’t do the same thing to secure our borders here in the United States.

He’s absolutely right.

The Chinese built their great wall thousands of years ago, and it was so effective that it drove the Huns to move in the opposite direction, eventually helping topple the Roman Empire.

Now all that water for a moat for a fence in the desert, plus the alligators, might not be practical, but building a border fence and securing it with border patrolmen is certainly achievable for a nation that won a war on two fronts (World War II) and sent men to the moon.

No, it isn’t a matter of ability at all. It isn’t even a matter of money; after all, we spend $2 TRILLION a year on unconstitutional social programs, so affording border security would appear cheap.

It’s a matter of resolve, as in, our leaders don’t have any. Democrats in Washington see a nonexistent southern border as a source of free votes and a bigger constituency, while many Republicans in Washington see that nonexistent southern border as a source of cheap labor for their crony capitalism buddies.

Meanwhile, respect for law has turned to mockery and derision, and we have no idea how many terrorists may be slipping across our border.

We need a president who is serious about getting our borders and immigration situation under control. President Bush wasn’t. 2008 GOP presidential candidate John McCain wasn’t. It’s for darn sure President Obama isn’t even serious about pretending to be serious.

I believe Herman Cain is serious about this issue, which is one of the many reasons I’d like to see him as the next American president.

Just imagine all the people who could be employed, and businesses that would profit from sales of supplies, if such a wall was built. I wish some construction company would propose to do such a thing and let the private sector handle it. If only such an idea could get through the walled up minds in Congress.

I thought Beck was very friendly and agreeable towards Cain last night. I also thought Cain did a good, not great, job during the interview.

I got the feeling last night that Beck plans to have a few more candidates on in the coming days/weeks.

You should check out Cain's speeches from 2010 and 2011 at CPAC. You have to register first, though. I haven't watched all of the 2010 one, but the one from this year is exceptional. He also did very well in the SC GOP debate.

Ping. From the video:

Build a twenty foot wall, barbed wire electrified on the top, and on this side of the fence I'd have that moat that President Obama talked about and I would put those alligators in that moat.

Sounds like Herman has taken one or two ‘counselor selling’ courses. So, if Herman wants to talk alligators you can bet he knows he has the features, advantages and benefits to squelch those alligators. ... And frankly, I think he does! I like the guy very much, but then genuine has always given me a tingle ... but not on my leg like Sissy Mathews, my tingle occurs in the hairs on the back of my neck. An honest man speaking causes an electric sizzle in a lie infested arena like American politics via media whoredom. Sarah does it, and Herman Cain does it.

Yes he is. As someone put it in another venue, Herman Cain is a man in full. I like the cut of his gib. Cain is a straight shooter, who is smarter than the average democrat or republican voter. Being genuine AND very intelligent and matured is what we the people need desperately at this stage in our national emergency. I think Sarah Palin has the same sparkle. What an interesting pair they would be campaigning! Whom to put at the top of the ticket would be the hard part of the decision! Can we have a real working vice president, instead of a usually drunken or hung-over half-wit like we are blessed with now? Is there any Constitutional definition of what the vice president is tasked to do, other than be ready to step into office if called? Why can’t we have an apportioning of responsibilities? Why pick a great leader then set them on the sideline for four years ... or alternately, in the case of democrats, pick an idiot then set them aside in their worthlessness, like Gore and Biden are exposing, but in typical democrat brain death, worhsip these idiots from afar and give them Nobel prizes for their idiocies?

Make that the cut of his ‘jib’ not his ‘gib’ ... Gibbs haunts me!

Don’t forget Israel’s concrete fence around the Arab neighborhoods - it has been very effective in deterring suicide bombers. It could work here too.
