It’s hard to win when your motto is ‘It’s my turn’ (Milt Romney the Bob Dole of '12?)

“Sarah’s not running, and I don’t think she’s ready. (I’m waiting with an open mind) There’s still time for a suddenly ready up and comer (Gad, Bush disappointed me) but that window is rapidly closing.”

“Rapidly closing?”

A lot of people in this forum weren’t around in 1968.

Lyndon Johnson had made a dramatic announcement that he would not run for president again.

Eugene McCarthy and Hubert Humphrey were fighting it out for the democratic nomination to replace Johnson (as Richard Nixon was ramping up for his run, too).

Then, almost out of nowhere, a third candidate overshadowed them both:
Robert Kennedy, who had been “waiting in the wings”, so to speak.

I was 18 around then, and not as politically aware as I am today, but I recall that Kennedy wasn’t particularly active in the earliest primaries, but then jumped in later on. He scored a big win in California — and of course, we know what happened that night.

Had he not been killed, Kennedy would almost certainly have gone on to win the nomination and quite possibly may have beaten Richard Nixon as well.

But the point was (and is) that it doesn’t matter so much when you enter the contest, but how well you do once you are in. All to often, the “early runners” burn out and self-destruct.

We’re seeing that with the Republicans right now.
They are falling fast!

It would be to Sarah Palin’s advantage to NOT enter the contest too soon. Let the other losers duke it out — then come in with a bang!

Just sayin’....

Furthermore, to say let’s replace Obama care with Romney Care..... Yeah that’s a winning ticket! (sarcasm off)

Mitt Romney is the “elitist, Inside the Beltway, Check pant Republicans” choice. He is the next “John McCain throw the election to Obama type” that will without a doubt lose to Obama.

If Mitt Romney is put in, just like McCain, then Obama has already won 2012.

Obama Care is one of Obama’s biggest weak points. Replace Obama Care with Romney Care is NOT a winning ticket.

Sorry I don’t hold Romney THAT HIGH. I would put Romney close to the bottom of the barrel.

What’s amazing to me thought is that I see most conservatives and people on the right against Romney. Just like McCain. But some how the GOP establishment manages to get their loser candidate (McCain last time) the nomination.

It’s almost as if the primary’s are rigid. For instance, last election most Republicans/Conservatives did not understand how McCain won the nomination? I know prior to McCain getting the nomination... 8 out of 10 Republicans were against McCain! How in the heck did he win it?

Now once McCain got the nomination and he put Palin on the ticket... it changed things with conservatives. Prior to that I just did not understand how McCain won the primaries?

Rest assured if Mitt Romney gets it, then Obama has already won 2012. Oh and our Republic as we know it will be probably over. Hate to say it, but look how much destruction Obama and the congress has done in the last 2 1/2 years.

This asinine process that perpetuates the queue of insiders needs to be crushed. If things get worse, so do the consequences.
