Whenever people catalog the perceived shortcomings of Sarah Palin one of the most commonly used words is divisive, which is just another way of saying some people like her and some people dont. It never seems to occur to those who apply such labels that not only is this a perfectly normal state of affairs but the absence of it usually means the person in question is either a cult-leader or has nothing to say.
Indeed, in order to figure out who a person really is, it is often instructive to examine the enemies he or she has cultivated and Sarah has cultivated some of the best. Anyone beaming down from the planet Twilo, knowing nothing about Palin or her politics, could reasonably survey the Mos Eisley Cantina collection of characters who stand in opposition to her and conclude she was worth a second look.
1. The Republican Establishment
Barbara Bush is only the latest in a long line of GOP patricians who have damned Palin with faint praise then suggested, with varying degrees of subtlety, that she quietly depart the stage so the grownups can take over.
This transcends Palins presidential ambitions, if in fact she has any. Although this has become the lightning-rod of recent commentary because her books been out a while and theres only so much you can misrepresent and fabricate what really exercises her critics (and their name is Legion, though more often than not Parker or Sullivan) is her general popularity among the hoi polloi and her unquestionable influence in conservative politics. When they say go away they dont mean dont run for president, they mean go away.
Scant mention is made of the fact these are the same grownups who presided over the frittering and fumbling away of the same Reagan legacy they rhapsodize about on the Sunday shows but perhaps the message is: No, really, this time the grownups have grown up. We can take it from here.
For those of us with reservations about this particular line of reasoning like anyone who understands the Zen-like wisdom of Charlie Brown and the football such assurances only reconfirm the wisdom of keeping Sarah around....

PING!!!
Long story short guys, no amount of civilized sucking up to your Ivy League counterparts on the Left will make them like or respect you. You care deeply about this, Palin doesnt, and thats why you despise her.
A four page summary of her light-weight enemies, (aren't they all?) complete with videos. Repetitious, so I'm not pinging the list to this, but I might bookmark the article for reference purposes.
Got it, thanks very much!!
It seems evident from this essay that Horowitz believes that Sarah represents every real American. Does he beleive that she can win the Presidency in 2012 - if she wants it?
I wonder what Horowitz would say about the reactions of foriegn world leaders - Cameron, Calderon, Sarkozy, Putin, Merkle, Hu Jintao, Naoto Kan - to Gov. Palin. Would he include “World Leaders” as the fifth group on this list? Do they respect her? Or not know her yet?
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already figured out that she’s the next president:

“Cameron, Calderon, Sarkozy, Putin, Merkle, Hu Jintao, Naoto Kan - to Gov. Palin.”
How much did the rest of the world know about Cameron, Calderon, Sarkozy.... before they were elected? Hu? Hu did you mention? My take...her background isn’t that important to anyone except voters (+) and elitists (-). We don’t know how anyone will perform til they take their new office.
Just remember, Harry Reid, that loathsome toad, was regarded as just a milquetoast before being elevated to Senate Majority Leader. Sarah Palin was “just a Mom” til taking on the Murkowski cartel and the oil barons in Alaska.
Palin is superior to everyone of those that you named, she represents the best of who Americans are. As our President she will surpass those men, and show them what strong leadership is about.
Millions of dollars and thousands of hours will be wasted on irrational, hysterical attacks on Sarah Palin.
But, I hate to say it, the right is guilty of this crap also.
Referring to Barack Obama as Kenyan Marxist, his wife as Chewbacca, and calling everybody who disagrees with us a RINO or a liberal in hiding doesn’t give us the moral upper hand.
I am guilty of it too!
But if I don’t want Palin to be unfairly criticized and mocked, I better watch what I do as well.
Just something to think about.
Whoa! Great story. Thanks!

At the end, after listing some wonderful examples of Palin Derangement Syndrome, Reed says this:
Reasonable people can disagree on whether or not Sarah Palin is qualified to be president, or even if her current influence in conservative politics is warranted, but arguably the fact that she is none of the people described above has to count in her favor.
I think that is correct. I am not as sold on Sarah for POTUS as many Freepers, but her enemies just keep making her look better and better.
If she achieves nothing else in her lifetime except having just by virtue of who she is and what she represents flushed some of them out of hiding, that alone should secure her a place in history, complete with statue, bank holiday and catchy song.
It's well worth the read.
Sarkozy is enraptured.
