Congressman Hunter doesn’t fit the Club for Growth’s idea of a conservative either.

Thats because Club for Growth loves free-trade with China, Mexico, or any other foreign country where the average wage is less then $1 an hour.

“I do like tweaking the noses of the Huckster crowd over his pro illegal stance!”

Even if Governor Huckabee isn’t our best candidate, nose-tweaking will ultimately do more harm than good.

As Pat Buchanan might say, their only allegiance is to the bottom line on a balance sheet.

I’m currently hoping the Republican ticket is either Huckabee/Hunter or Romney/Hunter.

“Whats all this ‘we’ talk? I don’t even recognize him as American.”

I’m confident that Congressman Hunter recognizes Governor Huckabee as an American, and I’d advise you to follow his lead.

Governor Huckabee will never allow amnesty:

“I had a similar visceral reaction to those quotes.”

This isn’t necessarily true in your case, but many critics of Governor Huckabee would do well to become less visceral and more rational.

I’m honestly not sure what your point is. I was only advising you to follow Congressman Hunter’s lead by recognizing Governor Huckabee as an American.

Rhetoric is 180 degrees opposite of their voting record. Say one thing, do another.

The big mystery:

http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN1844140220070919?sp=true

“Only 29 percent of Americans gave Bush a positive grade for his job performance, below his worst Zogby poll mark of 30 percent in March. A paltry 11 percent rated Congress positively, beating the previous low of 14 percent in July.”

You refer to Governor Huckabee as a “moron” in post 6, which suggests you may have a screw loose in your own theology.

Gee, Kurt. That says a whole lot of nothing without even a hint of explanation. At least I explained what I meant. Let me reiterate so you can understand:

1. Many illegal immigrants work under conditions in many cases approaching slavery.
2. They have no legal rights so their "employers" take advantage of them in many different ways.
3. Huckabee says that 1. and 2. above constitutes God's giving America a chance to "make up" for slavery.
4. Since he proposes to divine God's intent, he should also look at scripture wherein God says that each man is responsible for his own sin, not that of another. Here we have a case of God quoted in a scripture that Huckabee as a Southern Baptist minister (or ex-minister) should consider as authoritative.
5. There is no one in the United States alive today who is guilty of any acts of slavery from pre-Civil war days.
6. Most of the descendents of folks alive in those days never had anything to do with slavery because their forebears had not ever owned a slave.
7. Because of this, the "America" of today has nothing to "make up" for. Besides, the America of the days of slavery did far more than make up for slavery. It ended institutionalized slavery with the deaths of hundreds of thousands of soldiers who never owned slaves.
8. And illegal immigrants of today are not themselves the descendents of any slaves during the time of institutionalized slavery in the United States during the 19th century and earlier. Therefore, they don't have even the most remote moral claim for recompense.
9. There is, though, the other form of slavery in the United States of today and that is the one practiced by businesses that rely on illegal immigrants to keep their costs down, businesses such as those in Arkansas who are alleged to have worked with Huckabee as they made arrangements with Mexico to ensure that their supply of illegal cheap labor would continue and increase.
10. In this, then, Huckabee is saying that it is God's will that he, Huckabee, promote the misery of this new slavery to make up for the sins of the old.
11. In this he is the typical liberal: he condemns the sins of others while excusing his own versions of them because he is on the side of right and what he determines needs to be done. The non-religious liberal says he is on the side of the oppressed masses. The religious liberal claims a divine dispensation.
12. Because of this, he has a screw loose either in his logic (since no one today is guilty of the slavery back in the 19th century and before, no one today has any culpability to be expiated--to claim otherwise is nuts) or in his theology (it seems perverse that God would intend that one immoral situation--the actual slavery of the current illegal immigrants--was to "make up" for the now non-existent slavery of the the past).

Sorry Kurt - you are just wasting your time with these arguments here. No one will listen to them because everyone has already made up their minds (Thompson, Romney, Ron Paul, McCain, Hunter, etc.). And most of the people here are either Thompson, Romney, or Hunter people.

I personally believe the best person for this race is Hunter - but, the media and everyone has already got their man as a favorite to win this race. And they will not listen to the whole story. However, to see what Mike Huckabee’s stands and votes are all about:

Huckabee - On The Issues

On Abortion, Budget & Economy, Civil Rights, Crime, Education, Energy & Oil, Environment, on Foreign Policy, Free Trade, Government Reform, Gun Control, Homeland Security, Immigration, Jobs, Principles & Values, Social Security, Tax Reform, , etc.

“agenda” The people I’ve discussed issues with on FR are passionate, but that passion is the result of conclusion reached by independent thought and sourced fact. The agenda asfarasIcansee is a better America guided by conservative principals.

“lose it” I wouldn’t call strong disagreement, no free passes losing it.

Ann did trash Fred Thompson. I think Ann is wrong. Very wrong. This is the first time I can recall where we are on polar opposite sides of an issue.

I’m not going to call Ann a “harlot”, but I will be far more discerning when it comes to her opinion. That has been a theme this political season. My conservative heroes in the media (Fox) barring Rush, HAVE ALL LET ME DOWN.

It reminds me of long ago when I realized people will tear you down for no reason. What an eye opener that was. Now this. All I have is my intellect and ability to make the best decision for me based on available information.

As for someone elses opinion... I’m on my own.

Always find it interesting how the same pseudo intellectuals who whine loudest about belligerence on this website never actually do anything but be belligerent.

How about you try posting a serious, rational thought once in a while instead of simply posting idiot level sneers at everyone?

Your posting are silly, childish, and trite. Once has to wonder why you waste your time here since you never have anything to add to the conversation

And defenders of Governor Huckabee should try making a rational case for him instead of responding viscerally to anyone who criticizes him.

Remember, you are trying to convince us to vote for him. Screaming bile at everyone who has a different viewpoint of the Governor, as you have been doing on this thread, is not likely to win your candidate many votes.

“To Huckabee’s mind, anyone who supports such a law has succumbed to ‘race-baiting and demagoguery.’”

Your quarrel is with Joseph Perkins, then.
I’ll put ya in my Huckster shill file. Nice try at tweaking back.

Thanks for finding that since I got slammed for putting up that quote(I didn't), but did say it sounded like something Huckster would say.
