Why don't you address the specific issues I mentioned, instead of throwing ACU ratings around ?
What exactly are you afraid might happen if we discuss the issues, and yes, criticize certain positions ? McCain is not going to lose the primary, nor the general.
If we don't tell our Senators when and why we disagree, how are they supposed to know and represent the concerns of we the people, their constituents ?
1. No. But Ronald Reagan taught me "A man who agrees with me 70% of the time is not my enemy." Or, to quote another Bush supporter who is a Democrat "If you agree with me on 7/10 issues, vote for me. If you agree with me on 10/10 issues, get a shrink." - Ed Koch. Also, strangely enough, I like GWB, who signed the damn thing. (Yah, yah, I know, he thought it was going to be struck down as unconstitutional, but still)
2. Yes. It's not helpful, if anything, it'll backfire and hurt Bush, and even if it's true that he did get his metals falsely, it can't be proven, and just casts doubts on others who have gotten them ligitimately. The focus should be on his Senate record.
Discuss issues all you want. I voted for Bush in the 2000 primary season, and I'm glad he's president and not McCain, but that said, I don't have any real problems with McCain. I agree with him far more then I disagree, but I like him. He's tough, a loyal soldier, and he keeps us on our toes. It's better that we have a united front then squabble over a few minor things.
I can never forget that McCain was a member of the Keating five, and if he was a normal civilian and not a Senator would have been criminally prosecuted and put in jail where he still belongs.
Your point number 2. Mathematically speaking: 3 Purple Hearts, 1 Bronze Star, 1 Silver Star. Mathematically, how many veterans of any war in history, has ever received such --an amount of service recognition, for an active service that totaled, four months -- if you don't count two months on a ship before being assigned -(or ordered onto)- the swift boat on the river> Tops, its around six months, isnt't it? Think about it.
Hey, tertiary01 -- what is the Keating Five? and... can you tell me, how to find or get the thread/topic that told about Kerry sitting at a conference table for 40 minutes after the planes hit the WTC? I have looked through threads and topics and am wearing me out, yet I know its in here somewhere. I need it for another conservative site.
Where do you think the millions of leftists will go if the current democrat party is pushed off the map? They'll join up with the liberalized version of the GOP, which would effectively become identical to the old democrat party.
What I'm saying is, you can't expect to neutralize the liberals by inviting them to dilute a party designed to represent conservatives.
I have aged parents. Would I want to euthanize (kill) them, or let them die from lack of care next time they get the flu ? No. But when I think of all the people in society who:
1. provide poor or negligent care for their parents who live with them, or
2. allow their aged parents to burden our government social services, nursing homes, health care system, and charities,
I don't think it would be so bad to euthanize many of the old folks.
If you want to euthanize or let your parents die, that personal decision doesn't affect me or anyone else (except your parents...but if they're senile, are they really human anyway?). You should be left alone to do what you want to do, right ?
After all, who am I to tell YOU what to do with YOUR parents ?! They're YOURS, not MINE. Mine are wanted...and our family has the financial ability to support them in their old age. Tough luck for the others !!
Kerry wins and McCainiac goes Indy.
Damn shame....he had to be a fine man once....I think.
Both Arpaio and McCain need to go...
I will ping you from that thread
The Keating five were involved in a bank scandal in the 80's, which was being investigated by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. Frank Keating, the president of the bank, donated money to at least five Congressmen to try to get them to drop the investigation. They were: John McCain, John Glenn, Alan Cranston, Don Reigle and Dennis De Concini. McCain was the only Republican
Hmmmm. That's interesting. I've always thought of John McCain, as kinda enigmatic, hard to put a finger on. At times he'd remind me of Howard Dean, all fired up and "gung-ho" about something. Other times, he seemed as though he were afraid he shouldn't be saying whatever it was he was talking about. Oh well. So long as he helps President Bush, that's all that matters right now.
Oh and thanks for the info.
