Sunday's New York Times Magazine didn't do a heck of a lot for Mel Gibson. In fact, there's a good chance it may have wiped out his career.
Reporter Christopher Noxon did an excellent job describing the church Gibson built in the Malibu hills. He also had an eye-opening interview with Gibson's dad, Hutton Gibson, who apparently believes the Holocaust never happened.

I get the impression that Mel Gibson, as gorgeous and talented as he is, is also a little kooky. Obviously, his dad is totally nuts.

What did we expect from a left wing rag? This is the New York Times for heaven's sake. What the magazine didn't tell us, is that the reporter contacted and talked to Gibson's 85 year old father. Mel's father isn't very stable. The reporter spent two days with him before Mel caught wind of it. Here's another factoid that most would say would have deep-sixed the project, but didn't. The reporter's father has land that abuts a Gibson property. Gibson's property is used for religious purposes and the neighbor hates Gibson. No conflict of interest here! The New York Times has seldom stuped lower to take down a man like Gibson. Mel was interviewed on Fox last Thursday. He said it was going to be bad, but didn't want to trash-mouth his dad.
Mel is a good guy. Screw the New York Times!

Mel's dad has been getting attacked of late as a way of smearing Mel Gibson himself. Mel has been facing a number of hurdles making his latest Christian film.
But then, Hollywood doesn't blacklist. Hasn't happened since the 1960s < /sarcasm >

I smell a smear job...A great big smear job. Gibson is a devout Christian, which is "anathema" to the church of the NYT. He's going by the four Gospel accounts in his movie, and that will show that Jesus was nailed to the cross by Romans. IOW, Gibson will take flack from flakes about his movie portraying the last twelve hours of Jesus's life. My bet is that it will be a box office seller, which will really hack the NYT off. :)

Even though Noxon points out the son should not be blamed for the father's sins, Mel nevertheless has a close relationship with his dad, and has used him as a reference point in the past. Sheesh! If I had to disown every family member with a wacky idea, I'd be a lonely man...
Hollyweird is on the same self-destructive pattern as the DemonRATS.
I for one can't wait for The Passion.

This look at the last 12 hours of Jesus' life will evidently lay the blame for his death on the Jews. Ahem.
Apparently, the author of this hit pieces hasn't read the relevant documentation of the last 12 hours of Jesus' life. All four of the accounts agree that he was crucified by the Romans at the instigation of a relatively small faction of Jewish religious leaders.
