WCMH Book Club
12/21/02 | Sparta

Posted on 12/21/2002 6:47:39 PM PST by Sparta

A member of the ping list, MattinNJ, gave me a suggestion to start a Western Civilization Military History Book Club. I'm taking him up on his offer and I'm even making him co-chair of the club.

Here's how it will work: I will assign a book for the first assignment. On February 1, 2003, I will start a discussion thread to discuss the assigned book. However, how books are assigned are a little different here on out. I will ask for your suggestions via Freepmail sometime before the discussion thread goes up. You can suggest the next book for reading anytime. I will let vote via Freepmail before February 1 on the three books that are suggested the most, a book I suggest, and a book MattinNJ suggests. The book that wins the most votes wins. The winning book title will be Freepmailed along with the due date to all members. On the due date, a discussion thread goes up that night.

The first book will be Carnage and Culture by Victor Davis Hansen. It needs to be read by Febuary 1, 2003 and will be discussed that night.

To join the club, let me know. Good Luck!!

Western Civilization Military History book club ping!!!!

If you want on or off the Western Civilization Military History ping list or in the WCMH book club, let me know.

The first book is Carnage and Culture by Victor Davis Hansen. It needs to be read by February 1, 2003. If you have already read it, no sweat. Just be ready to discuss it on the First.

Sounds like a great idea. If only I had the time. My reading list is already too long for one lifetime...
