Sports Vanity: When will Kenny Rogers decide?

Ok, Kenny Rogers is supposed to be deciding on whether or not to accept a trade to the 2nd place Reds but no word from him as of yet. He has 72 hours from the time the trade was accepted by the Texas Rangers. The clock is ticking and this eager Reds fan can't stand by much longer. The cards are on a roll and the Reds need help in pitching!

KEYWORDS: cincinnati; kenny; rangers; reds; rogers; texas
anyone hear anything yet?

Ok, The Reds are in the crummiest div, have been lucky with their young talent and the Cardinals have been playing like crap up until the past month... I would rather have some younger talent but Rogers is better than who we have.

I thought I heard something on WFAN that Kenny Rogers was going to waive the no-trade clause. At any rate, I've watched him in the postseason with the Mets and Yankees; if there's anybody who's today's Mr. May and not Mr. October, it's him. He only pitches well when nothing is on the line!

Dag....I think the Reds need to go for someone who is more than "final yr of his contract" type of player. I dont want to give up on 2 or three prospects ust for a rent a pitch guy who has no intention of signing on with the Reds. For the Rangers, they would be dumb not to take the trade...for Rogers, it is good as well. A chance to make the playoffs and to sign back with the Rangers again. Its a gamble for him...if he does well, I suspect he will get a good contract after the season, if he doesnt, he might not get a chance with the Rangers.

Sorry! Rogers blocks trade to Reds

But...Reds obtain Moehler from Tigers...plus they get another Boone.

Oh well... In the Moehler deal, we get yet another Boone. Sounds like nepotism if you ask me.

LOL...I know. Plus Daddy Boone got his 2003 option picked up by them ($425,000 worth).

Well, the race should be interesting if Gullett (genius if you ask me) can turn Dempster and Moehler around. We got them both relatively cheap and didnt lose a whole lot as Espinoza was having problems defensively. Plus Detroit are paying the rest of Moehlers and Espinozas salary. Sounds good to me.
