This study looked at blood and fecal matter from these children, from birth to around 20 years of age.
Antibiotics and a possible deficit of good guy bacteria in the mothers may have started the kids off to a disadvantage, which wasn’t countered with replacement of better bacteria or, perhaps, just not getting enough soluble fiber to regrow what was there, if it was not completely absent.
Smoking by parents, PFAS, and low Omega-3 fatty acids also appeared to be a problem specifically with those children having these issues. These can be addressed, in various ways, too.

Thank you. What is the solution for children with these conditions? Fish oil / omega 3 supplements? probiotics?

I’m always amazed at the suspected causes and effects these researchers can identify.
“...researchers suspect a link to antibiotic treatment...antibiotic treatment has disturbed the composition of the gut flora in a way that contributes to neurodevelopmental disorders.”
Do you give your kid antibiotics to cure childhood ear infections which disturb the gut flora leading to later neurological problems. Wow.

I had to go on IV antibiotics ten days after giving birth.
My son’s digestion changed, and he developed colic, and spent the next five months screaming.
The signs of developmental problems were obvious to me within the month, another two years for the doctors to agree.

Possibly those dreadful vaccine “cocktails” given to babies disturb the guy flora.

This is true about my youngest he had bad ear infections for many months before he was 3.

re antibiotics, my Dad was a physician, and he always maintained that a 10-day course of antibiotics was way too long and usually not necessary, and that it could do more harm than good in all but the most exceptional cases.

My take... autism is from vaccines. ADHD are just normal kids with abnormal parents.

My GS has severe autism.
Do you know of any studies that show that fecal transplants help autism?
My GS’ gastro doctor said he would consider a fecal transplant if my son can show him some creditable studies that show it helps.
My son is searching but the more studies the better.
