Depressed General/Chat: Doing laundry at a laundromat in New Juarez, Alabama.

It's Sunday laundry again. Decatur, Alabama. Northern Alabama. The laundromat place is really busy...much busier than usual. Probably 40 people in here. One short round Mexican Grandma type has tied up ALL FOUR of the large capacity machines that do SIX loads in one shot. Mexican kids scurrying around taking gibberish. I am the ONLY white person in here. I've lived in the USA 55 years....all my life...and now I dont speak the language. Makes me want to drink. Rant /off

There is a laundromat in Greensboro NC that has a bar. It’s such a great bar that there are always machines available.

Nothing like a truck load of illegals at the laundromat to fowl up the day for ya!

Yes. Phoenix is a f^ing second Mexico with signs in Spanish and Mexican’s everywhere.

They are replacing American’s with third world country people and the culture is bombing.

I always wonder about all these leftists who are so ‘open immigration’ and at the same time love the sixties rock n roll because pretty soon they will be listening to mariachi music but they don’t see that coming.

Also there is no one more chauvinistic than a Mexican male except for an Islamic male.

Well, I certainly did not cheer you up, as Maxwell Smart said many a time, ‘sorry about that, chief’.

Yeah, that sounds like a real bummer of a laundry day. But perhaps there’s an upside to the crowded factor.

Pardon my personal story, but.. when I was in my early 20s, I had to drive to a laundromat in Beaumont, Texas late at night while hubby slept. He had weird work hours and we only had one car so it was my only opportunity to ‘do’ the laundry.

The place was empty except for an occasional car full of blacks driving by and oggling at me. I always carried back then, and even though it was only a 25, I knew I could discourage anyone from messing with me, but it was still scary. So.. I would drop the clothes off, start them washing, or drying, and then drive around for half an hour... just so I wouldn’t feel like a sideshow or sitting duck. Even then I didn’t believe in tempting fate.

So I guess the upside is, with that crowd of people around you, at least you won’t be in any real danger. And... you can always take a flask of Crown Royal with you to sip on and kill the pain.

You could’ve cleared that place out if you’d just worn a blue windbreaker and a hat with ICE on it. Cheap on Amazon.

Try living on the San Francisco Peninsula near or in Silicon Valley. If you don’t speak Pashtu, Hindi, Cantonese, Spanish, or Mandarin you are an outsider. It’s gotten so it’s rare to hear English in many areas. It’s been trending that way for 40 years and gotten real bad.

Having grown up in Central California, I remember when illegal aliens were afraid of immigration enforcement. I grew up around hard working migrants that would move seasonally to work in the fields. Families intact, working hard. That being said, my father was a postal employee, he worked with a black guy, that told him and I quote “When I retire I’m going to put a taco on my antenna and drive until they don’t know what it is and that is where I will retire”. This was early 70’s.

I’ve had similar laundromat experiences in recent years. The upside is they’re usually decent family types with good natured and relatively well behaved kids. We’re being deluged with immigrants but it could be worse.

I'll take the Mariachi music over the hip-hop. It all sounds kind of the same, but at least has a melody. If the lyrics are vulgar, I do not understand them. Oddly, the local Food City alternates between Mariachi and '70s Soul for its store music.

Ah, laundromats. I haven’t been in many, as an adult. One of the last times was late night in Felony Flats in Eugene, OR in the late ‘80s, I guess. Me and the roommate had our dog with us, just because. Had the whole place to ourselves until a transient ( what the homeless were called at the time) came in. He was pleasant enough, probably bummed a smoke, and went to the back of the place to wash his clothes for free, in the sink. The evening ended, and a couple of weeks later we saw the guy’s picture in the paper. He’d been an escaped inmate. They said he’d been found when some folks saw his heavily tattooed arm sticking out of a garbage bag down by the river.

The place was empty...

Similar story. After my divorce, I lived in an apartment with no laundry facilities - Brockton, MA.

So, I would get up at 2:00am Sunday morning. Stuff my laundry into a pillow case, add a cup of Tide and hustle down to the Laundry Mat. Dump the whole thing into the machine and go home - not far. Come back later and toss the clothes into the dryer.

The thing is, you had to get your laundry done before 6:00AM. If you missed this time, you were doomed because the local “women” would take over the whole laundramat.

Later, the laundramat was closed from 6:00PM to 6:00AM.

I met a couple other divorced men who showed me how to ‘Jimmy’ the door lock so I could get in and do my laundry. One old guy said, “Hey, the cops come by, ya just tell ‘em, I’m doing my laundry WTF ?”

Sometimes there would be drunkin bums sleeping it off, curled up on the floor of the laundrmat. You just stepped over them...

Already happened in DC.

The local “alternative” station, with the typical audience of pierced and tattooed gen-x liberals, switched format...

“At noon on January 12, 2005, 99.1 WHFS was switched to a Tropical Latin music format.”

Wonder if any of the former listeners of that station figured out anything from that.

You know you are in a laundromat in Fresno when ,you can close your eyes and hear only Spanish spoken and smell the combination of corn tortillas, tide and body odors.
I like corn tortillas but if it is one of the only thing you eat it permeates from the skin and you smell like masa.
80%’of the radio stations are Spanish speaking only.
The Central Valley is practically Mexico .
10 yrs from now all White people will be gone from the Central Valley. Even now I don't see a lot of white faces in central or south Fresno. Most whites live in north Fresno, or Clovis.
