Elderly relative has been voting since the 70's as a republican, and had voted for Trump in the last 2 election cycles.

Relative received their CA primary ballot, and was wondering why Trump wasn't on the ballot.

As it turns out, relative received a democrat ballot.

Checking on the registration, the relative, according to the elections office, has always been registered democrat according to their computer system.

Relative has never been registered as democrat, however, the election official says that is what their system shows, and when asked if the party registration could have been changed, claimed there was no request to change party, relative was in their system as a democrat, and there could not be a problem with their computer system.

Further information

Relative did not realize it was a democrat ballot, because they were always registered republican, and had not changed their registration, so they there was no reason to think they would receive anything other than a republican ballot.

California has a convoluted mixed primary system. The certain federal offices are in a closed system, and all other offices are in an open one.

The possible reason for the voter registration would be there are democrats that want to control who wins primaries or other offices, and are altering registrations and banking the voter, to be used in the future.

To check your, or other family member’s voter registration, go search for voter registration information with the office that controls elections in your state.

Search, for instance, for Florida where elections are conducted by the office of the secretary of state

“florida secretary of state voter registration”

When I lived in Ga, my husband’s vote was stolen TWICE and my MIL’s vote was stolen once - both are registered Republicans and their votes were recorded as voting democrat.

We called the election board and they did NOTHING.

Vote during early voting ASAP.

After the SC ruling today my Mom and sister asked me to check their reg in NC. NC shows alot of info. Interesting that it showed they both did “early voting” for the 2020 presidential election. All the other years it states “in-person election day”. My Mom and sister always vote in person on election day and did so in Nov 2020 - they both remember that clearly as do I and only because their voting location was so packed they decided to go back late afternoon to vote. My Mom b*tched about the crowds so its easy to remember.

I am working elections in Houston. Heard a voter in process of cancelling a mail-in ballot say they sent him a Democrat ballot. Must be a nationwide strategy. I’m glad he persisted till he was properly voted.

Several states send both D and R ballots to everyone in the state. If the voter receives two and is instructed to use one and then destroys the other, no problem. If the voter is instructed to return the unused ballot, it can be intercepted (USPO?). The R ballots are destroyed and the D ballots are sent to the local DNC chapter for processing and submission.

The only way to combat this in such states is to vote early IN PERSON and to do so as soon as early voting is allowed. This makes it likely that the vote submitted by the DNC will arrive after you vote hence subject to being disallowed.
