Can the JWT look at something remotefully meaningful? Like, in the area of our solar system...
But, I just have to admit, that is a bang-up job some graphic artist did on that illustration!

This confirmed that neutron star mergers do forge elements heavier than gold, and even confirms that long-GRBs can come from neutron star mergers.
Twenty years ago we thought supernovas created the heavy elements like gold. But physicists began to realize that supernovas don't create enough energy to form these elements and are instead dependent on a greater and more rare cosmological event: the collision of two neutron stars. The observations from the Webb telescope appear to confirm this theory.

Now what? Will we be able to turn lead into gold??
(and do we want to)

We can. We just need to find two dead collapsed supernovas and then knock them into each other like a cue ball and object ball.

We can already turn lead into gold, a few atoms at a time, in a particle accelerator.
The process costs more than the gold is worth ...

Everything that can happen in the universe has or will happen because God wills it to happen. We merely look upon His work and marvel at its beauty and complexity. Thank you God for giving us a front row seat to your creation.
