The lights have abruptly shut off at three fast-food locations on Chicago's South Side – leaving residents concerned over lost jobs and the future of those sites.
All three shuttered KFC restaurants are owned by the same franchisee. One of them is located in Chatham, where it is not the first business to close in recent weeks.
"A closed business is not only a sore eye, but it’s a gateway for violence because when you see abandonment, it looks as if there is no love, no hope in the community," said Ald. William Hall (6th Ward).
Ald. Hall says he, too, was disappointed to learn the news of KFC’s departure at three locations. "It’s something we’re seeing across the city, but nevertheless, neighborhoods, it hits differently," said Hall.
Colonel Sanders is saying ‘goodbye’ to locations at 83rd Street and King Drive in Chatham, 75th Street and Lafayette in Greater Grand Crossing, and 35th Street and Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville.

Are these “concerned people” ever going to put 1 and 1 together to realize that voting for soft on crime policies and politicians results in businesses shutting down?
Breaks me up that this comes as a surprise to people who live there.
The family fill up (8 piece chicken, 2 sides and biscuits) was $20 a few years ago at my local KFC
Now $30 with smaller pieces
Harold’s still open?
can rib joints and crap games be far behind?

Two minute comedy routine riffing off an actual news event in which a city was hit by a shortage of fried chicken. Some people were upset. One guy ... indifferent.
Stop acting like animals and maybe stuff will stay open.
It’s the baddest part of town...
It’s a catastrophe!..................
A fried chicken desert.
Why is it that the article does not Clearly State, WHY?
Why are 3 separate businesses closing?
Is it lack of traffic/ revenue?
Is it Homeless turning off potential customers from coming in?
Crime/ Fights/ Vandalism at these locations?
When a community condones theft, vandalism and other criminal activities, they deserve the community they get. As a business I wouldn’t stay in such a thug loving community. It clearly wants to commit suicide, so let it be written, so let it be done.
It doesn’t have to be blight. It’s an opportunity for a local entrepreneur to take over the building and open a new business.
Illegal immigration, not a problem. Stolen elections, not a problem. Black on Black murders, not a problem. Politicized legal system, not a problem. National debt, not a problem. No fried chicken? Now that’s a problem! Talk about walking into a stereotype.
Maybe the local residents don’t go to KFC anymore. I’ve stopped going to my local area stores. The Franchisor must be doing a poor job of policing their franchisees. The quality of the food has gone down—maybe they’re only using 10 secret spices. They cut their operating hours down, and none of the local franchises had inside dining until about a month ago. Seems like they hire mostly Somalian employees, and frankly, I don’t trust them to not spit in my food. I go to Popeye’s now, much better. At least I can understand part of the Spanish spoken by employees there—Somalian? Not a single word.
I think the fellow meant “eyesore” but the point is the same. Bottom line is the bottom line - you lose money, you go out of business. Government subsidized theft just makes it last longer.
America is heading towards having woke-marxist politicians set up taxpayer-funded “feeding centers” for blacks in the ghetto, because supermarkets, and even corporate fast food chains don’t want to be there
Its coming - just like communal kitchens in Soviet Union and China
How about putting up some migrants in this sanctuary city.
