I dunno. Even in Texas not sure about this one.
Will see.
To: Libloather
Well don’t steal and you won’t be dead. Pretty simple, really.

He will do time for retrieving a stolen BBQ pit. Just another day.

Chased the vehicle down - not going to end well for the homeowner.

We take our BBQ seriously here in Texas! Ranks right up there with horse-stealing.

Stealing someone else’s BBQ in Texas? That’s pure suicide!

Even in Texas not sure about this one.“[Sheriff] said the homeowner feared for his own safety and fired his own gun at the suspect”
Got the script down. The BBQ pit owner will be fine.
To: Libloather
Should have hung him low and slow.....

How does one steal a bar-b-q pit?
To: madison10
Never heard of this crime before. I guess it’s rare.

I’m in the same camp as you here. As the old saying goes, a lawyer is attached to every bullet. If there is no doubt as to your claim of self-defense, you’ll probably be okay.
But if there is doubt - or if the DA happens to be a liberal - then be prepared to shell out the big bucks. And good luck to you. Sad, but that’s reality.

One doesn't. A Bar-b-q pit is made of masonry. This was probably a "smoker", on wheels obviously, that was stolen and some journalism graduate doesn't know the difference.
"Thou Shalt Not Steal", especially in Texas and even extra double top secret "Thou Shalt Not Steal" in Texas AT NIGHT.
