McDonald’s location in Connecticut slammed over ‘outrageous’ Egg McMuffin price

A McDonald’s outpost in Connecticut is being slammed for its “outrageous pricing” after a customer was charged more than $7 for an Egg McMuffin—and nearly $6 for a side of hash browns.

“$7.29 for one McDonald’s Egg McMuffin. What has the world come to??” New York-based Bespoke Investment Group wrote on X of the breakfast sandwich, also posting a photo of the stiff bill.(snip)

“These were 2 for $2 pretty recently,” the Bespoke account added in the X post, though the popular fast-food chain did away with that promotional offering in 2016.

In a subsequent post, the Bespoke account noted that a single side of hash browns — a famously slim-pressed oval of fried potatoes that fits into a small paper sheath — is priced at a staggering $5.69.

For reference, at McDonald’s in NYC’s notoriously-pricey Times Square, hash browns are $3.99, while an Egg McMuffin will set hungry patrons back $5.49.

Meanwhile, an Egg McMuffin meal at the Connecticut McDonald’s location in question, costs an eye-popping $17.63 for a small coffee, Egg McMuffin and hash browns, according to the outpost’s Uber Eats page.

Upgrades and add-ons like a larger-sized coffee, bacon strips and a “round egg” — which is what McDonald’s calls a fresh-cracked egg, rather than its scrambled liquid eggs — are also available for up to an additional $3.

(snip)

At another rest stop in the affluent Darien, Conn. — located less than 20 miles from the Fairfield-based rest stop — social media users also gawked at McDonald’s menu prices after an X user shared that a Big Mac combo meal costs $18.

The Darien McDonald’s — located in a town where the median income is $250,000, according to census data — also charges $19 for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Bacon meal

Since this is free enterprise, simply demonstrate your displeasure by not buying it. Egg McMuffins, and all merchandise, is priced according to what the market will bear.

“an Egg McMuffin Meal at the Connecticut McDonald’s location in question, costs $17.63”

Plus about 10% sales tax.

By the way, Leftists, how’s that $15 Minimum Wage working out...SOME OF US can remember when Minimum Wage workers could afford an Egg McMuffin Meal for less than an hour of work.

Get government out of our lives and prices may go down, I’m not sure where they’ll settle but they should go down.

An adult that eats McDonalds deserves it.

Stop buying what you find overpriced. It fixes itself. That is before Joe Biden has shrunk chickens too.

McDonalds used to be a place to work for high school kids, college kids, and mothers who wanted to make a little extra money during the day while their kids were in school. The left has turned it into a career path for low initiative grown adults by pushing for $15 an hour pay for flipping burgers.

The left would be just fine with destroying civilization and have us all living in caves again.

In CA They were 2 for $5 last I checked, which was a while ago. Before the minimum wage increase. Not 2 for $2.

The sausage McMuffin is 30 cents cheaper than the bacon.
I only noticed because I ordered it without meat.
The hash was $2.79 which I thought was too much for what it is, so I didn’t order it. That’s my prerogative as a consumer.

Coffee is pretty good and was 99 cents for a large when you ordered on the app. Better than barstucks. But I moved and there is no mcd on the route so I stopped going.

Well if you make the money worth less, you can starve the population eventually.

Add to that this ridiculous war on farmers you get a billion less people.

Sounds cynical huh?

Another rest stop location. Priced like airport locations. At a nearby location it is $11.99.

I am very familiar with that area of Connecticut. We call it the "Gold Coast", where most families there make mid six-figures, minimum. They have money to burn. Greenwich, Westport, New Canaan, and Fairfield are some of the towns and they are extremly rich (compared to rest of country).

People think nothing of spending these prices, which is why they charge them.

I commute to NYC and use Westport as my train station. I know better than to stop at any supermarket, gas station, or restaurant until I get to my hometown (which is near Danbury). Prices are easily 40% or more on just about everything there. Once, my car had a near empty tank and I had to stop at a Westport gas station. I paid nearly $6 a gallon which was double what it was in my hometown. But I had to get there so had no choice but buy gas there!

the sausage burrito on the breakfast menu is small and tasty. Fresh tasting. 2 years ago 2.49 now 2.79 the least of the increases. Burger meals off the chart. Cal Minimum gopimn up to 25 per hour. Where are the kiosks?
