A Southern California fast food franchise owner is the latest to signal that menu prices will go up when the minimum wage for all fast food employees climbs to $20 an hour in April under a new California law.
Marcus Walberg, whose family operates four Fatburger restaurants in Los Angeles, recently told Business Insider that he sees no option but to raise prices and make other changes to adapt.
“It’s a scary thing because customers are already complaining that prices are too high,” Walberg told the business news outlet.

Well said.
Get money from mark and keep the prices the same. /sarc
They’ll replace most fast food workers with computer ordering kiosks.
Which is a good idea. You order exactly what you want and how you want it. Instead of having some pimple faced kid screw up your order.
Not stated is reduction in portion or quality. I haven’t been to others lately but my favorite and least bad McDonald’s item is the Filet O’Fish. Supposedly 390 calories. But I know the filet used to be bigger. And I noticed last month the slice of processed deli cheese is not only small and thinner now but is a strip about 1.5 inches wide. How can the calories be the same as the records state?
The Clara Peller tv ads (she was in her 80s for all of them) asked “where’s the beef?” and one good one showed a 6 inch wide bun with a 2 inch little patty inside. Probably coming soon.🍔
Marcus Walberg is a typical rich, evil rent-seeking capitalist exploiting labor. Why isn’t he selling his house and draining his fat bank account to keep his prices affordable?
Go Vegan!(/S)
....but but they told me it would only increase a burger by 50c !!
The same people also argue that if illegals aren’t used for farming then the farmers would go out of business.
Oh LOL, I understand your comment but not all restaurants are luckily enough to have a brother with deep pockets. I would bet that Mark has a limit on his help in what may become a marginal business.
Fatburger is MUCH better than In-N-Out for a similar price.
I’m in Indiana, and I hardly eat out anymore. One, it’s too expensive, and Two, Long Covid killed my taste buds and digestive system. Basically, almost nothing tastes good or appeals to me anymore.
“Fatburger is MUCH better than In-N-Out for a similar price.”
Totally agree! Fatburger introduced me to eggs on burgers *yum*
My wife and I spoke about these entry-level jobs now paying a “living wage”. So the government ran off the good paying industry and is forcing the entry level employers to pay a living wage since the good paying jobs are gone. The prices for all increase, but there are limited ways to earn more to get out of the new minimum wage. That’s the basic problem, the minimum wage is always going to be the minimum! You could pay these minimum wage workers $100 per hour, it will still be the minimum and all prices of goods and services will increase to offset any wage increase.
I heard a couple of morning-radio nitwits on a Tucson station the other day who were saying basically that, but they weren’t being facetious. Dead serious, the idiots.
Yeah. Raising the minimum wage sure helped.

Fast food has never been a bargain. Just cook your own damn meals (exceptions when travelling etc.). Better and cheaper. You can feed a family of four for the price of one Big Mac, fries and a soft drink.
lol
they keep voting for it!
so don’t bother complaining about inflation liberals! because you are now going to pay more for gas, taxes AND food than everyone else because of your stupidity!
LMAO
"Fat cheese, on the charbroiler...Fat fries.."
CA trying to get that crime rate up.
