I'm no prude, believe me, but I think that 99% of nudity and sex scenes in mainstream Hollywood films are gratuitous and unnecessary. Worse, they distract from the story line and break up the flow.
I think they're an anachronism from the days when porn was much more difficult to come by so a little T&A on late-night HBO was meant to scratch that itch. These days, it's totally pointless. If I want to watch nudity or people having sex, there's plenty of outlets to see the real thing.
Case in point, my wife and I really enjoy the Starz series "Outlander" but for the first five seasons, every single episode had a nude love scene in it. They got old quickly and we'd fast-forward through them. Not out of prudery but because they were like a commercial. They interrupted the story and we wanted to get back to the show.
