Yes, tonight marks the forty-fifth anniversary of The Star Wars Holiday Special! A two-hour program so wildly WRONG and bewildering that it has never been broadcast again. George Lucas has publicly said that if he could, he would gather every copy of the special and set a torch to it.
Here it is in almost pristine shape on YouTube. Do YOU have the stomach to watch two hours of Wookiee jabbering, Bea Arthur, weird acrobats, post-motorcycle accident Mark Hamil, Harvey Korman, Jefferson Starship, interstellar porn... well do ya??
"Fighting the Frizzies at 11."
Stupider than the SW movies?
I skimmed through some of it - as much of the lameness as I could stand.
It attempts to create a Christ-less pseudo "Christmas" special
without Christmas. It is so empty that it defies explanation.
Next level but anything with Star Wars at that time was popular. The popularity surprised almost everyone connected with making the movie.
Emphasis on "might".
***he would gather every copy of the special and set a torch to it.***
He should do the same to those two horrid Ewok Made-for-TV movies back then.
I think it just needs some closed captioning. LOL
How often can anyone see Bea Arther sing at a bar? It’s great!

Not a fan of Star Wars but even I noticed the Disney Star Wars movies were pure crap. And forget about Disney+.
Happy Life Day, Everybody!
Happy Festivus.

Rogue One was good. Solo wasn’t bad. They didn’t have the mary sue character which ruined the Disney trilogy.
This song charted on the Billboard HOT 100 in the Christmas of 1980.
The MST3K crew would have had a field day with this.
Rogue One should have been the prototype for all of Disney’s Star Wars franchise. That movie was just about perfect.
Agreed. I think they made that one by accident.
