Indi Gregory, an eight-month-old baby girl who was taken off life support at the weekend, has died overnight, a lawyer for her family said on Monday.
Her parents, Dean Gregory and Claire Staniforth, had fought to overturn multiple court rulings on their daughter's treatment, but were not successful.
Indi, who was born with a rare genetic condition, had been transferred from the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham to a hospice on Sunday when her life support was withdrawn.
Mr Gregory said: "Indi's life ended at 01.45am. Claire and I are angry, heartbroken and ashamed.
"The NHS and the courts not only took away her chance to live a longer life, but they also took away Indi's dignity to pass away in the family home where she belonged.
"They did succeed in taking Indi's body and dignity, but they can never take her soul.
"They tried to get rid of Indi without anybody knowing, but we made sure she would be remembered forever. I knew she was special from the day she was born.
Indi was born in February with a rare mitochondrial disease that saps energy, and had been receiving life-sustaining treatment.
Her doctors said she was suffering from significant pain and distress, and that treatment was futile.
Baby Indi's move to the hospice came after the Court of Appeal dismissed a challenge from her parents on Friday to an earlier High Court ruling that her life support should be removed in either a hospital or a hospice.
High Court judge Mr Justice Peel had ruled limiting treatment would be lawful, and doing so would be in Indi's best interests.
Her parents, who are from from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, had said she should be allowed to have treatment removed at home.

Government “healthcare” at work.
The oxymoron government healthcare is actually “death protocol.”
When will we learn that government is good a one thing: KILLING?
The main reason the federal government was created by the Constitution was for defense against foreign invasion - valid purpose. And there’s no entity that’s better than defeating and KILLING invaders that the government.
In the U.S., the feds have NO constitutional authority to meddle in healthcare. Period. Does anyone care? They will If/when this starts to happen here.
It did happen here. He name was Terri.
When you accept the premise that someone else is responsible for paying for your healthcare, you have accepted the premise that someone else gets to make your medical decisions. The harm is exacerbated because the kind of people who are drawn to administering a “public” healthcare system are often callous or sadistic by nature.
How soon they forget.
Terri wasn’t the feds was it? I don’t think so. That was a state issue I believe. States and its citizens have the right to do whatever they want with healthcare. But NOT the feds.
Federal “healthcare” is “death protocol” and is a deadly disaster.
Some believe that states have legitimate power to forbid health care or allow the murder of people, especially unborn people. “Well, it’s up to the states!!”
States do not have that right. No entity has that right.
I recall when I first heard about Terri Shiavo. I thought there is no way anyone will allow her to starve to death. They did. I still think the husband knew of the Hillsdale, Michigan case where a husband said his wife fell off a horse and struck her head and died. It was found later that he had administered a muscle relaxer that prevented all movement. The drug would dissipate in the system. But a California pathologist found a way to test for the metabolites. Yup, the husband is serving life in Michigan prison. I always thought the Shiavo husband knew of the drug, being medically trained.
May God help all concerned. Indi is with the Lord now, but those who condemned her will face a terrifying judgment unless they seek redemption through Christ.
State sponsored “health care” is actually state sponsored denial of health care. Those who have been complicit with the government take-over of medical care in this country are guilty of the same sins. They just haven’t come to fruition yet.
Individuals have that right and individuals are in charge of their local governance including their state.
Certainly the feds have NO constitutional right regarding healthcare.
If you think the feds are your friend, you’d better think again.
Found it if anyone is interested: David Davis, Hillsdale, Michigan, killed Shannon Mohr with horse tranq. He died while still in prison.
Individuals have the right to refuse health care. They don’t have the right to forbid me to access it.
And they do not have the right to kill their kids.
Well healthcare is a state’s issue and the people of the state are in charge of their state. I think generally most people of a given state would agree with you
But the feds most certainly have NO constitutional authority over healthcare. The feds couldn’t care less what you think.
And if you don’t like the state you’re in you can always move. We have no such choice with an unconstitutional totalitarian federal government.
It’s never been a secret that socialized medicine has as a foundational business model the elimination of the very young and the elderly, for budgetary reasons, if not for the evil ideology of socialism that promotes it. Tax drains, you know
Please always utter the name of Killer Judge george greer as well, when speaking of Terri. He got away with it.
Y’all are missing the boat. The most evil thing in medicine is the emergence of the non-clinical administrators. And even those who were clinical leave bedside and become non-clinical. They have all forgotten that at bedside we are dealing with someone’s father, mother, sister, brother, son or daughter. The conversations are often gut wrenching. Delivering this news is horrifying. I can’t imagine what it would be like to babe to have to hear it as a parent.
When I was administrating I mandated that every clinical leader had to practice and go to bedside. But my brethren physicians abdicated their roles in favor of money. We allowed this to happen. I am ashamed of my profession daily but choose to fight the fight from the inside. I can’t blame those who just leave the field and do something else. But that creates the void for the sycophant physicians who value greed more than their sacred oath.
“When you accept the premise that someone else is responsible for paying for your healthcare, you have accepted the premise that someone else gets to make your medical decisions. The harm is exacerbated because the kind of people who are drawn to administering a “public” healthcare system are often callous or sadistic by nature.”
Sociopaths are drawn to these jobs, and they usually have better benefits personally than those whom they supposedly serve.
All the more reason to keep healthcare decisions at the individual level as much as possible and not let the feds interfere at all with healthcare.
UK NHS at its finest - including the judge that banned the child from going to an out of country hospital that was all ready to receive her and could possibly cure her.
It’s not that I am advocating totalitarian fed control.
I am just denying that any government has the right to impede my health care. And I am denying that killing a child is health care. Whether he is in your womb or in the next room.
