Phil Gurtler, a public affairs officer for the Great Lakes at the U.S. Coast Guard station in Cleveland, said a manpower shortage nationwide is forcing the decision to restore staffing and other resources to levels they should be in areas where service calls are highest.
“We are going to reallocate some of the personnel and assets,” he said.
On average, he explained, staffing at all locations is down by about 10 percent from what the Coast Guard feels a station should have to be “optimally manned.” The numbers reflect the growing challenge of recruiting people into the military over the past few years.
“It’s been a continuous issue. It’s just kind of reaching a point now where some decisions have to be made,” he said.

I remember the USA, back in 2019 it was a great country
I do believe the Biden Gang is slowly pushing America to that moment when he reactivates the draft, this time for both men and women. There’s just too many pressure cooker points on the globe right now, to continue in the same way. Several areas may require our participation in some form.
When Secretary Lloyd Austin the Third issues ‘Revised & Improved’ rules on when and if the military will pay for so called ‘sex changes’ for the Trans, you will know, the military has been forced by circumstance to reduce their experimental phase and return to former priorities.
Expect to see mucho demonstrations, high in emotion and low in logic.

You’d have to go back much further than 2019 to when America was still great. More like 2 decades plus.
Well, bring them home to the US coastline and waterways. We shouldn’t be seeing them deployed around the world.
The diverse objectives are much more important than quality objectives.

I’m not sensing true panic unless they have a bunch of lazy butts
If they can’t take up the slack from 10% they must be underperforming
Semper Partimus. We were ready in my day.
You are not wrong. It has been a long excruciating decline.
When and where was your day shipmate?
Served 84-88, Guam and Fla.

They can draft anyone they want. They need to go back to true basic training. Get rid of all the soft training. If not, then all you’ll have is fodder for the enemy. Our military has become worse than weak-it’s pathetic. Having served 32 years with friends still in the Reserves, I am disgusted with the stories they tell me.
Start drafting all of these invaders into the Coast Guard. Make a job their “pathway to living here.”
Yup. Then along came the dempanic and the banana boat mail in ballots.
