Hockey Canada says new policy promotes inclusion and privacy for all players.
It's early in the 2023-24 minor hockey season, and many players and their parents are getting adjusted to a new policy from Hockey Canada.
This season, all minor hockey players are being encouraged to wear the base layer they wear under their equipment to the arena. If they don't do that, they will have to change into their base layer inside a closed washroom stall at the rink.
The new policy is trying to promote inclusion and to respect the privacy of all participants on a team. It is now the responsibility of all coaches and team staff to instruct players regarding the minimum attire rule and make sure they are in compliance with it.
"All participants have the right to utilize the dressing room or appropriate and equivalent dressing environment based on their gender identity, religious beliefs, body image concerns, and/or other reasons related to their individual needs," Hockey Canada spokesperson Esther Madziya said in a statement emailed to CBC News

When I was in High School, the boys swimming class was in the nude. Can’t imagine how many lawsuits that would engender (pun intended) today.

So much effort goes into corrupting normal behavior. Yes, I do consider it normal in sports and gym class that boys dress and shower in front of each other. I never gave it a thought when I was kid. When I went to the YMCA as a kid, the M stood for man and the C stood for Christian. There weren’t females running around. You swam in the nude. No big deal. Today there is little if anything Christian at YMCA’s and there are women all over the place. Why do I point this out? All of this gender identity crap began with the women’s liberation movement. All the victimhood and the unnatural desires for women to be treated like men started then. That served as a template for every other gender bending problem we have today. It’s nearly impossible to find a “lady” under the age of 60 today. There are also few real young men, at least ones are revolted by the notion of faggots and gender deniers.

In the early 70s my jr. High required the boys to swim
Nude. The excuse was wet bathing suits in a hot locker room meant mold and mildew and smell. You are right …today a teacher or administrator would go to jail for that policy.
Does encouraged and required have the same meaning in the Canadian speak? How about other sports such as minor girls swimming?
