They must have been learning their instruments in the maternity ward. Amazing!

It’s all fun and games until the banjos come out.

A song that’s hardly remembered.

Those were the days, my friend.

We thought they’d never end.

I’m gonna be singing it for the rest of the day. I still remember the lyrics. Most of them, anyway.

Those kids are, in New-York-ese, "umbuhlievable"!

They all can count, keep time, and the bass and violin can hit all the right notes with no frets.

And the girl, besides being totally reliable on the guitar, does the smiling for the group, because she has both charm and performer's discipline.

Just awesome.

It turns up on Ed Sullivan reruns, now and again.

My Granny used to make me watch Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs every Saturday in the 50s and 60s. I didn’t appreciate it then but I have grown to love it as part of my heritage despite the coastal parasites claiming Nashville.

How do you instill this interest in music at an early stage in your children and grandchildren? So many kids today don’t play music and they unwittingly forfeit and miss out on the joy of making great musical sounds together. It’s a shame I say. For me, music was in my blood. I bought my first guitar when I was in grade school by trapping pocket gophers and turning the tails into my county’s soil conservation office. As I recall 25 cents a tail. Yes, I also have a banjo and a fiddle.
