For your consideration. Five Million Years to Earth
The 1967 version was a remake of the original Quatermass and The Pit from 1953. If you're not desensitized by modern bombastic film making, it's a frightening film. Listen carefully, you'll hear it's a warning from the nascent world of the arts. 5 million years ago the primates were modified by the dying Martian race of arthropods. They evolved from that modification. And that hive mind lurks in us all and periodically, because that's their way, they purge all who do not respond to the power. Anyone who would not be affected by the perfection of the modification would be destroyed. And all it took to stop it was one man who was willing to stand up, face the devil and be damned.
Enjoy
For your consideration. Five Million Years to Earth
A documentary about why there are so many ghosts at Hob’s End.
It’s campy. I’ve DVRed it because it’s light entertainment.
Great movie.
Saw it as a young mam.
Watched it last weekend! A well done flick.
Saw this for the first time on Turner Classic Movies one night. Thought it was pretty good for its era.
One of the best scifi flicks of all time.
Soft disclosure.
Wonder what the temperature of the earth was 5 million years ago. I’m sure all our climate scientists can agree on what it was...jerks...but like I say...GRANT MONEY is forever.
I think I saw it the first time on Holahan and Big Chuck late Friday night kids horror flick show. Cleveland channel 8

>until the big reveal
Giant Grasshoppers. Yawn
Saw it on Ch4 NY in the early 70s on a Sunday nite after the news. Thought it was well done. Around 20 years later Tobe Hooper did a flick with a similar theme, Lifeforce. Had a similar possessed chaotic London population at its climax.
Saw it as a kid, scared the bejeezus out of me.
Xlnt movie. Best when calculating the implications with each discovery presented and reactions to the information. The biggest question raised is, “so what is man after all?”...whether altered by the Martians to mimic their life or evolved from the primordial slime without Martian help. Is man just a glop of highly arranged chemicals tracking a predictable path?
Certainly not a Godzilla meets King Kong movie.
Thx!
It lacks the humor and frivolity of, say, "The Exorcist" but it's lighter than "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."
