I have a neighbor couple that always do yard work together. He edges and she mows. I think she likes to mow, because she has had knee surgery and shoulder surgery, but still does it.
She had snake venom on her glasses, so the hawk probably saved her from getting snake bit.

What a great story! The hawk obviously dropped his catch and came down on her FOUR times to retrieve it. Her arm is a bloody mess - yikes!
My son is a greenskeeper at a local golf course and sees hawks all the time when working on the course. He’s sent me some great photos of the hawks very close to him on the ground. I just sent him the article saying “Watch out for hawks and their meals!”

Five years ago, we got a new puppy. While he was frolicking in the back yard, I noticed TWO red tailed hawks sitting next to each other on a branch of neighbor’s tree, very intently watching our yard. I pulled our new little puppy into the house as fast as I could move.
Good for them. I never had help. It was “a man’s job”…
Our cat once brought in a live hawk (guess the hawk was too much for the cat to kill). It lay on our couch in the den, wounded and sort of brooding. Whenever anyone approached it, it would squawk.
It looked mean. Reading this story, I wondered if it was the hawk that tried to drag in the cat, rather than vice versa.
Must have been a battle royale.
Anyway, the maid and I waited for my dad to get home. We were too terrified to even go into the den. He managed to wrap a towel around it and take it outside.
For some people, it’s probably the most exercise they get all week.
