The United States has crashed out of the Women's World Cup after losing a dramatic penalty shootout against Sweden.
The Americans created most of the chances during the match – but were foiled at key moments by Swedish goalkeeper Zećira Mušović, who made crucial stops against Lindsey Horan and Alex Morgan.
The Swedes will play Japan in the Women’s World Cup quarterfinals on Friday.

You go, girls. Now one has a favorite team to win it all, although one has nothing against the Japanese team or whomever Sweden would play in the semifinals. It's frankly all in the spirit of good sportsladyship now that USWNT has been eliminated.
Such a shame about such a gracious and elegant young lady as Megan Rapinoe - yes, that's her name - being benched for "unforgiveable conduct".
About time, ****h. Go get help now, your misery needs to end.

Me bad. Mallory Pugh = Mallory Swanson. She got married last year to Dansby Swanson, the baseball player. FWIW, she also mentions being Christian on her Wikipedia page. Assuming she fully recovers from her injury — and it’s none of our business, really, but assuming that she and Dansby don’t start hatching little Swansons — she is going to be around for a long time.
FWIW, the U.S. team had at least four moms out on the field, all in their 30’s — just as a note to those who think Megan Rapinoe is the norm.

After five straight goals gave the USA a 3-2 lead, Nathalie Björn sent her shot over the bar to all but send Sweden home, especially with the decorated Megan Rapinoe stepping up next for USA.
But the retiring 38-year-old also launched her shot into the stands to keep the game alive.
Angry USA soccer fans rounded on Megan Rapinoe for laughing after she missed a crucial penalty in the World Cup penalty shoot-out against Sweden.
And thus, the end of the reprobates soccer life
It could very well be that The Uber-dyke Rapinoe, the oldest person on the team and likely the one with the most influence, threatened all the rest of them if they didn’t do exactly as she said and diss our country.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Rapinoe is part of some ‘dyke network’ that can make life tough for anybody on the team that doesn’t toe the line.
