It’s time e-bikes are formally known as f-bikes. Science.
But those batteries are going to save the planet, aren’t they?
What’s a few lives lost but collaterol damage?
Chinese lithium-ion?
Lithium-ion batteries are ubiquitous. It might be a good thing if smartphones started exploding the way bicycle batteries seem to; we could then have a safety standard that phones have to shut down automatically after five minutes, and young people might suddenly realize that they aren’t really AI-guided pixels in a big simulation. Here and there, we hear about an occasional car battery acting out, but not many. Military and large commercial applications? Probably a few, but not enough to register, at least with me. So what’s up with e-bike batteries? Is there a particular problem in the supply chain for that one category of battery?
The problem is with the Chinese manufacturers of these e-bikes and their lithium ion batteries. The Consumer Products Safety Administration instead of going after our gas stoves and water heaters, should be developing strict standards for these batteries and ban the importation of anything with batteries not meeting the standards.
Safe communist chinese batteries.....
