Saw this movie first run at a drive-in, oh wait a minute, that would mean second run, any ways I thought it was boring.
The Charlton Heston trilogy of, "Planet Of the Apes", "The Omega Man", and "Soylent Green", are the best written and acted dystopian movies.
Mods pull if you wish.

I’m surprised that 13 Monkeys isn’t in there.

Idiocracy. Mike Judge comes up with far and away the funniest visual gag EVER, to demonstrate the collapse of society - skyscrapers fallen like dominos, 2 tower blocks held up only by wires, and a freeway to nowhere that idiots still keep driving up:

My first thought was “Planet of the Apes” movies.
We quote the famous “Soylent Green” line at our house all the time.

Any list without these is useless. But Add: THX-1138. Logan’s Run. Silent Running.

#7 “The Road”......a bigger gut punch downer of a movie I’ve never seen......What Viggo Mortensen was thinking is beyond me. SMH
Also, I notice “Book of Eli” didn’t make the list.......too much Bible good news perhaps?

Those are good; however, the version of
1984, that came out in 1984, is a MUST SEE!
THE BODY SNATCHERS is sort of dystopian; thought the original film is the only one to watch!
CHILDREN OF MEN is also one to watch.

I wouldn’t call it a dystopian movie, but Joker is outstanding.
It sucks any joy out of you, so I don’t recommend numerous views.

Any Democrat National Convention will do.
Or maybe a 90 minute feed of San Francisco traffic cams.

Blade runner is my favorite science fiction movie ever. The dystopian future was a vehicle used to explore much larger themes and questions.

Heston sure brought the star factor to those and elevated them to great classics.
