How is C.S. Lewis’ family cool with this disgrace?
She is the new Kathleen Kennedy....
“Apology - also means a reasoned argument or writing in justification of something, typically a theory or religious doctrine”
Who is arguing? And sometimes the extrapolation that they use to get to a point reads like a conundrum. At least in my mind it does. If people are not going to believe or don’t believe and they’re adults, their belief system is pretty much intact, the best they can hope for is possibly coming around of their own accord.
I don’t know I’ve never got past the first or second chapter on any CS Lewis that I’ve tried to read - and I have tried. That approach is nonsensical to me.
I would rather help the poor or feed the hungry in some way other than lecture.
Another thing is that CS Lewis had some colleagues and peers who were dubious to say the least, I think Crowley was one of them and Albert Pike was another... bad company corrupts good morals, on that point alone I would leave CS Lewis languishing on the book shelf.
I don’t know. From your post it seems you weren’t aware of that meaning. If you are, my apology! :)
You’re very misled about Lewis and his friends. Not even an Inkling.
That's a shame. I've found his writings explaining theological ideas of Christianity in straightforward ways a God-send (pun intended). But as Lewis often advises in his works, "if you don't find the following [paragraph, section, etc.] useful or understandable, just skip it and move on," which I guess is what you're doing.
That's Princess Caspian you transphobe!
Sorry that wasn’t me that was Clutch Martin!
I was just giving out the third definition (dictionary-wise) of the word apology.
I’ve read C.S. Lewis and enjoy them.
I find his SciFi trilogy the most intriguing.
Satan has entered into and taken over their spiritual center.
Satan cannot stand the thought of God, so he enables these poor souls to do his bidding.................
$$$$$$$$$$$$$.................
I consider apologetic conversations a waste of time, on the web or in person.
Someone out to demean never promotes consensus.
In a storytelling format it may be effective, but not to the rabid cursor of the Holy Spirit, they are truely the walking dead.
Read later.
There are several things I try not to talk about in ‘mixed’ company, especially in-person:
1. Politics
2. Religion
3. Sports
4. Men/Women issues
5. Now, even the Weather is verboten...........
An old navy Chief once told me, and several other incoming boots...
“There are three things you don’t talk about while you’re in the military: sex, religion, or politics. Stay away from those subjects and you will get along with just about everybody you HAVE to work with”
He also told us “there were two kinds of Supervisors, Supervisors you work with and supervisors you work for.”
And...
“You’ll learn something from everybody who’s in charge of you, you will either learn how to be a good leader, or a crappy leader. There’s a lesson in both.”
His speech was all about unit cohesion, and after a full enlistment of observation,my takeaway was that he was spot on.
And to the crusty Navy cook during our indoc week of boot camp and his opener to the class on proper nutrition... “There’s two kinds of food. Food that makes a turd and food that pushes a turd.”
